A trade union (or labor union) is a voluntary association of workers formed to represent and protect their social and labor rights and interests. Unions advocate for better wages, working conditions, job security, and benefits, and often engage in collective bargaining with employers on behalf of their members.

Vertical restraints are agreements between firms operating at different stages of the same production or supply chains(manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, for example). They commonly take the form of obligations or restrictions - like fixed or minimum resale price set by manufacturer, supply exclusivity agreements, territorial restrictions on sales etc.

They can increase efficiency and provide other conditional positives on the agreed parties, but - without proper control - can often result in limiting competition.

Agio (from Italian aggio) is - simply put - an exchange rate... with a twist.

Historically, agio referred to a premium paid above nominal value when exchanging depreciated paper money for full-value metallic coins (such as gold or silver) of the same denomination. It reflected the difference in real value between weaker and stronger forms of currency and was especially common during periods of monetary instability or inflation.

In modern usage, agio has become a broader commercial term, referring to exchange rate differences, premiums, or discounts in financial transactions. It is used in contexts such as bond pricing and foreign currency exchange, where it denotes the difference between nominal (or face) value and market value. While the original meaning tied specifically to currency conversion has largely become historical, the term has expanded to describe value differentials more generally and is sometimes even used in place of “exchange rate” in certain contexts.

Payment in kind (or, in this context, salary in kind) is a form of wage compensation where workers receive goods, services, or other property instead of money. This method has historically been used in agriculture, household service, and early industrial settings, where employers might provide food, housing, clothing, or other necessities as part of a worker’s compensation. In the broader sense, payment in kind also refers to other business repayments or compensations (interest, debt etc.) using things other than cash: goods, services, or even further securities like additional debt.

A food artel (pronounced artěl) is a voluntary association of individuals who unite to carry out joint economic activity related to the production, processing, or distribution of food products. Members typically contribute their labor and share responsibility and profits from the collective work.

It is useful to distinguish this from a cooperative. A cooperative is an association of members who pool resources for purchasing, production, or services. An artel, by contrast, traditionally refers to a group of people who personally work together in a shared enterprise and share the results of their labor. Because English has no exact equivalent for this historical form, the Russian term artel is often kept in translation or loosely described as a labor cooperative. For example, a consumer cooperative might buy food in bulk for its members, while a food artel could run its own bakery staffed by the members themselves.

*A tender is a method of purchasing goods or services based on open competition. In this process, organizations invite suppliers to submit bids, and the contract is awarded according to predefined criteria such as price, quality, and reliability. Tenders are commonly used in public procurement to ensure transparency and fair competition - at least in theory.

This system is designed to promote equal access and efficient use of public funds. However, because tenders often involve access to government budget money, they can be vulnerable to manipulation, underhanded competition, favoritism, or corruption if oversight and accountability mechanisms are weak.

A production balance is a system of indicators that reflects how material resources, equipment capacity, and working time are used to produce goods over a specific period. It helps analyze the flow of inputs and outputs in the production process, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that planned output targets can be met.

Trademark is a sign, symbol, or name used to distinguish the goods or services of one producer from those of others. It legally protects a brand’s identity and helps consumers recognize the source of a product or service in the marketplace.

Brand is the overall image, reputation, and emotional perception that consumers associate with a product, company, or service. It includes not only visual elements like logos or names, but also customer experience, values, and trust built over time.

A counterfeit product is essentially imitation goods: a fake item - usually of low quality - produced by dishonest manufacturers who attempt to pass it off as genuine. Many such products often imitate branding, packaging, or design to deceive consumers, and are commonly found in markets like food, cosmetics, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. Counterfeiting not only misleads buyers but can also pose health and safety risks and cause economic damage to original producers.

The government restricts citizens access to the Internet (among other things). I have talked to people from Russia, people from China, etc online. But I have never talked to someone from North Korea and that is a pretty big red flag for me.

And how many people from the DPRK have you actually tried to speak to? There are many in China and many in Russia, some as naturalised citizens, not to mention tens of thousands work officially in Africa.

You seem to accept that information about the DPRK is unreliable, but rather than allow this to create a position of neutrality in yourself you seem to instead default to vibes. The problem with defaulting to vibes is that those are specifically what propaganda is effective at manipulating. The vibes about the DPRK that you have are entirely a construction of western media and comment sections.

When I don't know about something the first thing I do is take myself to the most neutral position possible - "I don't know". That is the starting point from which facts should be fed.

Hello @cole@lemdro.id you seem to have conveniently ignored my response?

Does every american have equally valid input on america and its politics?

When the next person says "I know someone from Britain and they said London is a no go zone" should I take them automatically seriously? Should I take their opinion on migrants and small boats seriously or should I maybe do some more serious investigation?

You dated a Korean, so what? Why should anyone take this one person's take over serious investigation of the matter?

EVERYWHERE has its problems.

And yes, that is the DPRK too.

Sure, I don't deny that. The issue here is what are they? You don't know. I've actually visited and I could talk about some, but they'd be quite different to what you would talk about I suspect.

I've dated a Korean and been to Korea which has influenced me quite a lot.

Koreans in the south typically react with surprise whenever anyone on the left refers to what the US did in Korea as a genocide. Most of them have barely any knowledge of the five "republics" before the existing one, the sixth. Unless your partner was a trade unionist within the ROK I generally wouldn't trust them to know what they're talking about, much like I don't trust the average liberal or magat to know what they're talking about when it comes to the US, its history of barbarism or how it interacts with the world today. The trade unionists within ROK however do know their shit, I've spoken to a few of them and they're cool comrades (but are legally not allowed to say they are)

if you can't admit the obvious problems with the DPRK

The problems you've only ever absorbed through the lens of extremely dubious western media reporting whose sources for reporting come from either the CIA or NIS(formerly KCIA but renamed to make it less obvious the south is an occupied state) ?

You say "obvious" the same way the Dothraki say "It is known". You consider this information obvious because a lot of people say it, you never consider whether a lot of people only say it because they too see a lot of other people saying it. You do not know the facts at all.

Calling anyone "insane" is always ableism.

You are using mental illness as an insult.

Just like calling anyone gay as an insult is always homophobic.

At this point nothing will stop me having a visceral negative reaction to AI being added to any product after literally every single other implementation in literally every other product has been annoying fucking dogshit. It could be the best thing ever and I'd still react negatively because I never want to hear the god damn word again.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 15 points 5 months ago

I hate this argument because you're just two different versions of national supremacists.

On one side, you have the red magas that believe american supremacy can be re-achieved by kicking out everyone that isn't white and being mask off in its exploitation of the world.

On the other side you have the blue magas that believe american supremacy can be re-achieved by being as mask-on as possible about freedom and all the usual liberal bullshit that america spews but doesn't actually practice. This lot are just liars, using ideals and moralism as a mask for the exploitation reaped upon the world.

Both are dogshit, both are nationalists, both are motivated by american supremacy, and when both are gone the world will be a far brighter place.

Would you support someone who supports arming police to carry out a genocide in Portland?

No?

Then why would you support someone who supports arming IDF to carry out a genocide in Gaza?

What is the material difference that causes you to not support one thing, but support the other?

Nationalism. You are a nationalist. You just do not realise it.

You support american supremacism, as long as it comes with the promise that it will improve your life. You support genocide in Gaza if a politician will tell you they'll make your life better while they do it.

You don't support it in Portland because then it would be happening to AMERICANS.

You are a nationalist and you are an American supremacist.

"Cure" is loaded language. Your gender doesn't need curing, your gender is what it is.

If it can be changed, then yes perhaps it can be intentionally changed. But what the mechanisms are for that to occur are absolutely not understood and any attempt to forcibly do so to anyone should be considered a violation of human rights.

I don't disagree with the reasoning everyone has for being extremely defensive about this possibility, I just also don't really rule it out as solidly as many others do. I get it though. I do understand why people have such a reaction to this and want it to be untrue. I feel like we don't really understand any of it though. We've barely scratched the surface.

I also think a lot of the research is trying to confirm the idea that people are born this way. IE working from the conclusion. Because the science is performed by those with a desire for it to be the outcome because it's the safest outcome for trans people. I'm not really convinced all of it is good.

I don't know. I've just seen a lot of change in myself in my life and am open to the idea that we're not as fixed as we believe. And of course that that's OKAY and doesn't change anything about how people should be treated or viewed.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago (2 children)

If they say they were made trans by life circumstances, I would tell them that that is likely not true, but I would never dictate someone's gender.

I think it's worthwhile remaining open to this but not really valuable to trans people to like make it part of activism or anything. There are enough instances of people saying things like their sexuality has completely shifted for me to be open to the idea that what gender we're attracted to can change. I don't think we know enough about being trans to be certain one way or another, trans people however have a very understandable defensive reaction to this because we don't want it to be weaponised against us as "fake" or whatever.

If your action is to punch left, your output is to move the current situation rightwards.

This goes for both anarchists and lemmygrad types, who equally harm the collective movement by punching left at one another.

If the marxist brigades, (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine(DFLP), Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC)) in Palestine can prioritise the need for cooperation even with hamas in order to put up a resistance against oppression, we can all do the same when we have fewer reasons to fight.
