You people are way too quick to assume police are violent for no reason, just because they're police. Maybe they were just big fans of the jazz or suns, and being cops was just incidental.

Cops aren't allowed to he smart, and idiots can get pretty heated about their local sports teams. Are cops not allowed to support the teams of cities they live in? This may be a case of dumb sports hooligan violence that happened to come from a cop, not police shooting a dog for no reason

I'm not saying I care about those teams! I live in California!

”A celebration of the New York Knicks' NBA championship turned tragic on Saturday in Canoga Park when Los Angeles police officers responding to a call about a screaming woman shot and killed the family dog, authorities and witnesses said.”

First sentence of the article that you didn’t read before deep-throating the boot would tell you the whole story, the what, when, where, why, and how. One click, one sentence, a second or two to read.

I don't understand how I'm being disproven here. Nothing in that contradicts my conjecture.

I don’t understand how you could read the article and then think your comment was relevant

Look, LAPD officers can still be fans of the basketball teams from the city in which they live? Are we saying they cant? The Utah jazz and phoenix suns are lovely teams. Its fine if they can't, but as far as I'm aware; they are allowed.

And sports fans can get extremely violent after a rival team wins a game. It happens, and its a risk/cost we just accept as a society. The dog was wearing a Knicks jersey. Maybe if they didn't want their dog shot, they shouldn't have dressed her like that.

So it's possible this wasn't police violence, but non-police violence coming from a source that happened to ALSO be police.

Nobody was confused about what you said.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

At least six people got the joke. I'm so fucking disappointed in you people.

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Ah, it was a joke? I might’ve been confused about what you said! My bad, I missed it since it didn’t strike me as funny

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

Fuck you, learn to read.

I know your comment is just some ridiculous ragebait because nobody is that dumb but ...

This may be a case of dumb sports hooligan violence that happened to come from a cop, not police shooting a dog for no reason

Those are the same thing.

If your kneejerk reaction is to shoot something, you shpuld not have a gun.

A sixteen year old toilet cleaner at mcdonalds has seen worse shit than your average cop, and has better deescalation skills

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well, cops basically never leave their cars, and its not as if they can just stay parked, so its not like they don't face real danger and real images of dismembered bodies and twisted metal in their jobs. I'm sure they have need of emergency services at least as often as that sixteen year old at McDonalds.

[–] toofpic@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"Cops don't do anything bad because they sit in their cars" is the most idiotic thing I've seen in months

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I'm just saying cops probably have a disproportionate need for emergency services compared to the example; a 16 year old who cleans bathrooms.

Driving is really dangerous, guys.

No argument on the de-escalation skills.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

you haven't seen what people do to the toilets in mcdonalds

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

That's why they necessarily have deescalation skills.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 months ago

No way this isn’t bait.
