me, at 29, being told my twenties are as good as it gets for socializing and dating, having no real friends and still a virgin:

also super looking forward to when my body starts falling apart in my thirties, I'm told that's when the warranty runs out. Can't wait. It's gonna be rad.

thats only true for people who give up and settle into a sedentary static life. im a 30 something and im healthier now than i was through most of my 20s, and having a lot more sex. i avoided changing anything meaningful about myself through most of my 20s. i didnt really start changing myself until a few years ago, but once i stopped living the way i thought people wanted me to and started living the way i wanted to and really being myself, things got way easier. ive learned more about myself and done more growing as a person in my 30s than most of the rest of my life put together. you can change yourself however you want. forget what other people think about it. dress the way you really want to dress. make your body the way you really want it to be. do the activities you really want to do and fucking own it. love yourself enough to give yourself what you really want. whatever it is some people will vibe with it. people have been telling you your whole life that confidence is all it takes to get laid and its true, but they never said the way to get that confidence is to be who you really want to be, unapologetically, so even if someone doesn't like what you have you dont care, because you like what you have. i wish i could go back and tell myself that when i was 18 and staring down a sad and lonely 20s trying to be someone im not... maybe then they would have been some of my best years. its not like its easy, but you can do it, because being your real self is truly what you want.

Bruh, I'm 30, haven't dated since high school, still a virgin. Went swimming on Monday after not exercising consistently for months and I was sore until today.

That's not true, way way happier in my 40s than ever before.

when my body starts falling apart in my thirties

It should hold up longer than that. Diet, exercise, sleep, and avoiding injuries is key.

It doesn't quite fit but it's close enough for the message I wish to convey:

Life is long and is often what you make of it. You are the main determinant of your life and how you enjoy it. Make tomorrow better than today!

Read!

Haha, when the saying came about I'm sure it was, if you watch stuff like Dazed and Confused, I'm sure it's exaggerated for Hollywood but overall it was a lot more loose. Unless you were TOO different, then it was a nightmare same as it ever was. Schools are literally prisons compared to what they used to be. Anyway, people who say stuff like that are usually the status quo who just coast through life on cruise control.

I remember hearing about a study that was done where most older people say that if they could go back in time to any age, the most commonly picked one was 37

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Aw crap, that's my age.

I'm easily mistaken for younger, though, being a playful adult. I don't think there's any age I'd want to go "back" to from here, unless I could bring the knowledge and skills that I have today with me.

Almost 50, there's been good and bad in every year, I'm overall happier now than I ever have been.

A cafeteria worker at the local pool told me and my friends when we were 13 to enjoy how much money we have now, as it'll get worse as adults.

I was horrified, as we had saved for a month to afford entrance to a pool amd some candy. I was convinced being an adult would suck.

Thankfully she was wrong about the money and being am adult has it's moments.

My drugdealer(Psychiatrist) told that to me once

Yup. You are probably healthier now than you ever will be. Might get smarter, though. That won't make you happier, though.
