Ah early morning rain showers. There's nothing else like the soft patter of light rain mingling with the dings from the trams.

This feels like a winter morning.
Looks like one too. All grey and rainy.
I looked up the weather radar, thought there was lots more rain incoming, then realised I'm looking at completely the wrong side of Melbourne! The rain's pretty much past Ballarat now and it's looking likely to be clear. Another cup of coffee and then I'll rug up to take Mr Woof out on his first neighbourhood orientation walk.
Overtired past me left the heater on overnight. Not regretting it, I gotta say.
Breaking news: Miss Meow has trialled her window hammock. It was apparently a good place for some after breakfast grooming. She has now disapeared again, either for more box exploration or maybe just going back to bed.
Mr Woof has also successfully navigated the dog door for the first time this morning. He's now napping on my lap, which he fully deserves after the big day yesterday - it's very stressful for a security dog to see a bunch of people tresspass onto your territory and steal absolutely everything.
Big news. That's great. I'm so glad it went smoothly. Hope you get some time to relax and enjoy the new place today
But I donโt WANT to go out in the rain
Grumpy morning, ahoy!
A Bunnings trip might be on the cards very soon, I'm going to need a lot more extension cords! And I still need to get numbers for the letterbox.
I ordered a second remote for the garage door, which was not as expensive as I feared. I also ordered another security camera to go in the garage - I'm not used to having a remote opening door and I find myself fretting that it might be open any time I can't see it. I know it's silly, but it's like when you have to keep checking you locked the door, my own minor touch of OCD.
Our morning walk was a bit brisk this morning, but the sun is now coming out and it's shaping up to be a very nice day. Miss Meow has found herself a very good hiding spot in the future sewing room - if she hadn't had her eyes open I would not have known she was there. Mr Woof is still a bit unsure about the new dog door and needs prompting to use it. I thought the security camera might have some video of him using it this morning, but all you can see is my arse as I'm leaning over encouraging him, and the audio is all me going, "that's it, push! push!" like a crazy dog door midwife ๐คฃ
๐ If he's like my dog he understands "push" but chooses not to.
his favourite treat on the other side of the door
Gout flare up. Fucking nice. These meds better kick in soon.
ouch
gentle hugs
Thank you. It sucks so bad. Lucky I've still got meds from the last time. Still trying to figure out what caused it honestly.
have much study to do
am hesitant ๐โโ๏ธ
I'll just start slow , with something simple
Anyone else following along with the Erin Patterson trial still? She's on the stand today and it's fascinating.
Me! I think it's quite rare for the accused to take the stand in a murder trial, cross-examination by the prosecution is going to be a hoot.
Especially when she's already proven she's a liar! Everything she says I'm like "but did you?"
All the excuses she put up so far sounds so contradictory and also random. Sheโs definitely lying.
During their opening address the defender basically said "she's a liar, but not a murderer!"
Iโd say they so hand in hand in this case.
she's stupid , scared and defensive
she should have been coached
She sounds coached while talking about everything she's been through and how she regrets certain actions.
Yeah. I'm waiting for the prosecution to get stuck in. ๐ฟ๐
Ooh, I just bought some fun popcorn at the food and wine show, thanks for the reminder!
There's a book called Widow of Walcha that's quite interesting. It's about a NSW woman who attempted several poisonings on multiple lovers and eventually succeeded.
Ooh, thanks for the rec!
Not hardcore, just listening to it whenever it pops up.
Finally getting my day underway after sleeping in, I donโt know what was so hard about making some toast and coffee today.
Ex co-worker says her manager is ignoring her. He literally sits next to her. Jesus christ.
That sounds awful.
Absolutely. It's a terrible way to treat someone.
Someone treats me like that at work. I ignore her now and never help her if she wants anything because thatโs the only time she talks to me.
Made it quite clear a few years ago, when we were breaking up for holidays and she says good bye the the two people either side of me and I complain quietly to the group and one of the group yells out to her to say good bye to me as well.
Following the trial.
Who here has gone mushrooming?
I and friends used to pick mushrooms all the time. Just field mushrooms. We knew the big yellow mushies in the pine forests were edible but we weren't confident to pick them. Some local Italians used to.
Same! As kids we used to collect them from the horse paddock nearby, and only the ones with pink or brown underneath. We never got the ones that were any different to that. Very glad I didnโt accidentally poison the whole family, though.
There are currently big yellow ones in my front yard which the snails or slugs seem to love
I guess this new place is officially home now, just had my first delivery. Mr Woof was not impressed that someone dared to knock on our door.
I now have a few new mugs.
Once I have cleared enough boxes to allow other people to fit inside I'll be able to invite people in for coffee ๐
Cute mugs! I love how quickly you all seem to be settling in!
It mostly looks like this
But I have carved out a few livable areas, and am working on getting a few more done. Having been able to set up things like the bed frame, dining table and fridge before I moved has definitely made a big difference.
I haven't got my morning rain strategy down yet so I drove in today. I'll take it as a leg break and maybe take the analogue bike tomorrow
Is it possible that Erin wanted to make the elderlies a little bit sick (not actually kill them outright) to bring Simon closer to her? Munchausen by proxy perhaps?
It's possible. It's also possible that she did nothing at all but is a compulsive liar in general which makes her look guilty.
Buy my take (not that I've been following closely) is that it is far more likely that she's absolutely guilty and too stupid to understand that people can see through her lies. I'd put the alternative possibilities into the category of technically possible, but so unlikely I wouldn't consider it reasonable to entertain them (i.e. beyond reasonable doubt).
