Anyone wondering Nikita was not actually supposed to succeed Stalin but actually this guy but a lot of events happened after Stalins death that paved the way for Nikita.

If I recall correctly he wanted to focus on improving the Soviet Union's light industry, fight against corruption of the party bureaucracy and privileges, also continue self-criticism. He would've continued the course of Stalin albeit a bit softer. Sadly he was outmaneuvered by Khrushchev and forced from his position as First Secretary, he joined with Molotov and Kaganovich to oust Khrushchev in 1956 but were instead ousted themselves from the Party by the Central Committee as they had the final say.
