Smoky smell... Hope they've been doing planned burns out west otherwise I am having a stroke or I'm on fire and haven't noticed yet

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago

My air purifier is going off inner east.

You're not trippin'

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago

Nice clear and still weather for burning things. There area lot of farmers burning off large areas of stubble at the moment so there is definitely a lot of smoke around everywhere.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago

yesterday you could see smoke across the bay/on the horizon, looked like a typical Autumn inversion layer

such lovely days tho ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿ˜บ

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Is it Friday afternoon yet?

[โ€“] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

If you pull a sickie it is.

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You know what? Fuck it. I'm doing it.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

40% of sick days are Monday or Friday. It's outrageous. !!!

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago

Fridays make sense, cause the whole week has worn me down.

Mondays, well I was out on the weekend and must have caught something from someone.

Makes complete sense

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Only one from the team in the office so I might do some side work for Coffee since there's no one to notice.

And I got this remote/mini keyboard off Aliexpress for trivia and holy shit it's so good. It has a built in gyro so you wave it around to use as a mouse, then the gyro also works to tell it which side is facing up for the remote side or the keyboard side. Beats the shitty mouse with tape over the laser they gave me.

Movie review Hamlet by Laurence Olivier

a very confusing story,

Hamlet and Ophelia and Horatio and Laertes were teens, the court would have been in their late 30s

this was written in and about a time when people really did believe in the Christianity, they really believed in hell, royalty was also believed to be divine. This explains a lot of the motivation and reactions.

when adults sin the children suffer

This was a very influential movie.

30 minute doco by Gielgud on Hamlet. Very enlightening. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I donโ€™t want to, and work canโ€™t make me

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (2 children)

off to Daiso, does anyone want anything?

[โ€“] Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Ooh yes please, can you get me a small cutting knife that will blunt in a week, and an A4 sized plastic chopping board?

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago

I bought one of their knives years ago and had the same experience. Didn't throw it out, just kept in the garage. Bought some sharpening blocks during covid and spent a bit honing the knife.

It's great and holds the edge pretty well.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Perfect, thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘Œ

[โ€“] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Rice moulds. Interestingly shaped starches would please me

I've put my final Coles order in for pickup next week, as I don't trust them to deliver to deliver to the right address or to make good if they don't. That will use up the credit for my last mis-delivered order that I had to fight tooth and nail to get, and will be my last ever shop with Coles. After this I will have officially broken up with Coles and intend to go No Contact. Definitely an acrimonious breakup.

Update: "we're not sure"

Everything says one thing, bloods say another, but everything could also be explained by other means. So we have some test strips and we're gonna see if we pick up ketones at home.

[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Dunno if 'we're not sure' is better than a diagnosis? But she has just been through a period of stress, maybe enough to throw her cortisol levels and body into a state of dysfunction. Hopefully things calm down, including a lack of keytones.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

well that's the thing - it could be stress, from the boys and from the vet, it could also be a sudden weight loss from the boys stress / no longer finishing off misha's meals as well (she's the same weight as last vet visit, but she did pork up a hot minute in the interim). Or we could have literally caught the diabetes at the instant it started to develop, but before any symptoms. it's a three way tie

[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago

Only time will tell, and we know she's in the best hands ๐Ÿงก

Ahhh the dulcet sound of chainsaws echoing around the courtyard

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 3 months ago

Drama review. 1948 BBC radio staging of Hamlet with Gielgud

Bloody awful. Gielgud was at least 25 years too old for the role. He's supposed to be an overly dramatic confused emotional teen, not some pontificating old fart.

Tho I did like the rendition of Polonius in this version. Makes it very clear he's an arsehole

2 hobbits but that's for Polonius.

Stupid question, but at a restaurant, are you supposed to bring the dishes back to the counter after you've finished eating, or not? I get leaving it if it's too hot to touch, or there doesn't seem to be room, but I was curious what we're supposed to do.
