Remember when every movie just HAD to be 3D?
it's been the same since cinema existed. Hollywood finds a trend that is popular and then runs it into the ground. 3D films. Star Wars clones. Slashers and Action movies in the 80s. Die Hard Clones, Disaster Movies, and Teen movies of the 90s. Hell back when Charlie Chaplin was making movies studios were pumping out knock offs like you wouldn't believe. the "Beach Movies" of the 60s. The Western. so on and so forth. And of course recently adaptations of 80s toys and comics.
So yeah there will be a few AI only movies for awhile until the audience eventually gets sick of them and then Hollywood pivots to a new trend.

In this interview, Kassowitz misses the point entirely. He talks at length about how "AI steals, but it's fine, we all steal, great art is made by stealing..." my bro we are aware. That is not the issue at all. (I mean, that's one issue)
We (humanity) want to make art, we want to act, to paint, to sing, for fuck's sake. Delegating creation of all things is missing the point because that's not something you want to automate, unless you have some vested interest in getting rid of the "middleman" (=the artist).
Furthermore, it's giving up the political power of art to corporations : manufacturing consent will never be as easy as with generative AI.
Once again, Blade Runner wasn't supposed to be an inspiration. Fuck off to mars, Kassowitz

Remember how all these shitty directors were predicting that people wouldn't care about practical effects anymore after that advent of environmental CG in the 90's?

It amazes me when people advocate for their replacement. Every single person in all industries should be saying "fuck ai"
It's almost like people see "don't comply in advance" and think that it means "except for me!" or it will somehow benefit them if they do it anyway.
The latter, presumably, being the reason people love licking boots, boosting wealth hoarders, voting against their interests, etc. They'll get some crumbs from the table if they do it hard enough, surely.
If this were true, we'd see a lot more animation, the reality is actors are important to the creative process otherwise and the director having to micromanage ai (or let it just produce averages) is only good for producing slop (which admittedly is a lot of what Netflix puts out).
I would say theater is an even bigger indicator. People want to see people do amazing things.
Some of the best parts of a movie is where the actor is improvising. AI made movies would most likely just stick to the script and feel flat and boring.
Slop gonna slop doesn't mean anyone will consider it valuable or artistic, they're talking about emoji movies and voiceover crutches and low quality children's programming that's already mostly animation anyways. Nobody's using slop shop v3 to make citizen Kane or the seventh seal

I'm still grumpy about Special Effects. Give me a real stunt driver and practical effects please! ...And real actors.
The fact that they are quoting a director whos biggest claim to fame was 30 years ago is very telling of his present state of mind. His best ideas are stolen, he hates copyright because he lacks any talent. He cant direct, but wants to with limited effort.
Ive worked with directors like this before, they use the word "homage" for every shot they take, they let the AD do all the actual directing work, and they sit behind the monitor looking at their cellphone during a take, and bitch occaisionally that they are running out of daylight while contributing nothing to the production besides their name and some bullshit personal relation from their childhood to the story being told in the film during a promo interview, a script which they didnt even write, they were just available when the studio called them to pump out another turd of a film. And in order to get people in the seats they claim its a "ground breaking cinematic experience" or some shit. Taking alllllllll the credit while being the smuggest piece of shit loser you have ever met. They also almost always cheat on their wives with some head of departmemt or cast member or at least try to. And they fucking LOVE blow..... and shitting on every technician they can, outsourcing blame for their own ineptitude whenever possible.
Theres a really good example of this type of person in the show "brand new cherry flavor"
We all have our names for them, but my favourites are: dip shit moron, piece of shit loser, parasite, and of course, cunt.

What the hell? Not so long ago, he was strongly opposed to digital SFX because he wanted movies to capture reality. Did we swap Kassovitz for an evil clone?
Most people won't watch AI films without real actors and actresses
I pretty much turn off anything that has AI generated content in it and file it away as blacklisted.

I’m not sure that’s true. In day to day life, I find the majority of people will accept whatever the media tells them to accept.
The normalization of AI in the past couple of years has been rapid. Even my 70 year old aunts are delighting at AI-photoshopping themselves into flowers and revealing outfits. Prospective employees hand in chatbot-created resumes and cover letters, masking the fact that their spelling and grammar is godawful.
The media will tell us to celebrate the end of overpaid actors and influencers, and many people will be pleased to see them knocked down a peg.
Any idea how much compute power its gonna take to make a feature film worth watching? lol
but most people can tell the difference if one is made by AI, only conservatives cant because they believe AI. just like how cheaply movies and shows use CGI over practical effects, some mcu movies and shows, other superhero movies like the flash, and then theres invincible where its PNG all day.
AI generated content vidoes is very noticeble, likely would cost them more to use then CGI down the line.

La Haine is a critically regarded masterpiece and usually lands in best movies of all time lists. Easily one of the best French movies ever.
It's really worth a watch.

He is unfortunately correct, if the AI generated actors are convincing enough then majority of people will not care. Just like it is with CGI, people complain about CGI in movies but as examples they can only list movies with very poor CGI because our brain ignores good CGI.
Good thing they won't be convincing enough. The preview for every AI actor I've seen has been laughably bad. Mostly because AI has trained itself off of decades of mediocre people using social media to "act" for ad placements while forcing a fake charismatic demeanor on everything else for community building. AI actors have the depth of a porn star convincing you their work is enjoyed more than their paycheck. Except AI performs that way for every basic human emotion.
AI isn't even intelligent my dude. All forms of it just predict what best fills in a blank, and the sum total of every bad actor on social media is the largest pool it has to pull from. Expecting good or meaningful performances from AI actors is hilariously misguided. At best we'll get perfect looking humans with flawless facial symmetry that have the emotional depth and inflection of text emojis.
That can't carry a 2 hour film, let alone any content that requires emotional complexity. At best we'll get movies that are just 2 hour reaction videos in what AI thinks humans do in certain situations. Baby born = happy face. Baby died = sad face. Is about the depth you can expect from these actors.

I already don't care. haven't watched a new show or movie in ages. I'm going through my 90's tv collection right now and it's fantastic.
Well, almost all "new" media is just repackaging the "old" media to make a buck off of a combination of nostalgia and a pivot to a different platform. No one will care because no one will feel compelled to watch the fourth or fifth reboot of Harry Potter.
My prediction then is that, when it launches, nobody will care about the new Kassovitz' movie that is being made "almost entirely AI-enabled".
Probably not care. I've already given up on watching movies since American dross is usually what is on offer. TV is from Europe and so far isn't AI. I've been to more live theatre and cultural events in the last year than I was in the previous 10. Unless they start having very realistic robots do the performances and I can't tell from real actors, that is probably where most of my support of artists will go instead of corporate crap.
