Do they offer these for RAM drivers too? I need it for my city.

[–] frog@feddit.uk 27 points 1 month ago

As a Texan truck drivers are worse.

That's the nice part about living in old cities in europe. These things wouldn't even find a parking space here lmao.

How old does it have to be? Because I live in a European city founded in the 9th century, and work near another founded in the 1st century. They're both full of these gigantic monsters...

[–] pipes@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

Yea and they're increasing too, skirting immissions regulations by being imported as agricultural machines

Well, I lived in nördlingen, germany (Yes, the attack on titan city or whatever anime it was) for most of my life and the first occurence in historical documents was in like 900 or something lol. However, the thing with the city is that it's got a fully intact city wall to this day. If you drive a large car in there, you're not going to have a very fun time in the city as you'll find no parking spaces and you outright can't access some parts of the city by car because the turns are too tight or the street simply not wide enough. I remember that like 25 years ago, they even had to create some wider lanes through rezoning so delivery trucks can even get to the shops to deliver the goods.

Man I'd love to see some american with his truck in the city. Absolute cinema.

Vienna was also founded around the 1st century. Not that you would see much evidence of that if you don't know where to look. Luckily also those monstrosities are still somewhat rare but you can definitely find them and they are getting more. Somehow it is illegal to drive in heavy snow in the alps without non-skid chains. But it is not only legal to drive with monstrosities that are incompatible with cities in the inner cities, and put lives needlessly in danger. The latter is deemed not only perfectly normal but anyone arguing against it is deemed an extremist.

Pretty sure this is from the UK, so arguably Europe? Kinda?

One of my favorite classic Top Gear episodes was when the lads drove locally sourced used cars across Africa.

Oh now I want to start shoving these into the windshields of every F-150 and other cope wagon I see in a parking lot.

I do like how it specified city, acknowledging yeah there's sometimes a decent use case for this, but why the fuck did you bring it here?

[–] socsa@piefed.social 6 points 1 month ago

Don't mind me, I'm just here for the pearl clutching

So mortified that he streisand-effected himself by posting a picture on the internet...

[–] Aralakh@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

I thought the guy was Kevin Spacey at first whoa - which made the joke funnier

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

I'd be mortified too. You mean I didn't need to spend all of that money on a power vehicle?

[–] Zannsolo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (2 children)

My two year old likes big trucks, it hurts my soul to act excited when we see one.

Actual construction equipment that are used to a real job beyond being gender affirming care are cool though. Inefficient train-wannabes (actual trains tho :3) or consumers in giants wastes, not-so-much.
