It reeks of desperation from the imperial admin to feel like they have some level of control over the situation. It strikes me that they really are organizationally unequipped to take an overt geopolitical L at this point; I think the pathetic showing of negotiation for peace on their part shows that. They are so used to everyone folding to them. They are used to diplomacy being another tool to solidify people folding to them, in polite meeting rooms. They refuse to grapple with the idea of losing any power.
I guess this is what he meant by joint operation of the strait. 🤣
But no seriously what happens when the US seizes Chinese and European vessels? I have no clue how maritime law works so I'm a little comfused
Blockade is an outright and clear act of war. Europe will fold and huff about it. China will not retaliate with military force but will permanently stop selling the US some resource that's critically necessary to some foundational industry, like they've been doing with gallium.
Yup, and we already saw how vulnerable the US is during the tariff wars.
