That was about as perfect as a test flight could be, they all did a hell of a job.

In YouTube chat everyone was thanking God 'n' Jeezus, nobody gave any credit to FUCKING SCIENCE.

Science doesn't need to be thanked. Science isn't an insecure "god".

And if there is a God or gods, I doubt they need to be thanked by the likes of us. It is us who benefits from our gratitude.

This is so sad. Imagine having to bring balloons to your own welcome home party.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Don’t worry, the sailors brought a couple bigger ones to welcome them home.

the local crazies are already trying to tell everyone that comes near about how the whole thing is a hoax

Was at a sushi restaurant where they had it playing on the TV. Some guy got in front the tv and started screaming for them to turn it off because its propaganda and obviously fake.

Like five waiters went over, laughed at him, and then watched the landing

[–] Earthman_Jim@lemmy.zip 6 points 7 hours ago

Laughing is 1000% the correct response.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

because if they don't how will they prove that the original moon landing was a fraud.

[–] jeniferariza@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Why does this feel like the start of a horror movie 😭

[–] FundMECFS@quokk.au 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If you squint it looks like a christmas ornament (or perhaps I really should be wearing my glasses).

[–] LincolnsDogFido@lemmy.zip 3 points 9 hours ago

That reminds me. My family used to have a reentry vehicle Christmas ornament that would play audio from the Apollo missions and light up the cabin. Super cool

Did everyone get their ape costume?

[–] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 hours ago

Probably not. They must have their birthday suit tho.

[–] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 13 points 15 hours ago

Yep also got a bone in my hair

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 9 points 16 hours ago

TSA wouldn't let me through the gate. They called the local Zoo to pick me up.

Send help! Or, bananas.

[–] Nighed@feddit.uk 16 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

cool, they made it back. I want to see the state of the heat shield though!

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 6 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

It's it the same heat shield as on Apollo. I thought the issue was that they'd forgotten how to make it so it didn't work as well on Artemis I (though even that one came back intact).

[–] Nighed@feddit.uk 7 points 9 hours ago

They made some material changes (removing asbestos) and did it tiled instead of one piece.

They found that (on the installed version) doing the skip menuvre, it actually wasn't hot enough and the material offgased without burning, causing bits to break off.

They made a new version, but didn't update this mission with it.

Yeah, and the cheap bastards didn't even bring any souvenirs for us.

[–] modus@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

No. Just the re-entry capsule returned.

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 16 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, Jesus ... they look like party balloons.

Nobody tell Hegseth!

Nothing special, just a replay from 50 years ago, then this was world news, now just a distraction from the EPSTEIN FILES

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

How exactly would you like the Canadian Space Agency or ESA to handle the files? This wasn’t just an American flight and as others have said NASA has nothing to do with that

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

Nasa isn't in charge of the files. Other things are happening that aren't connected.
