Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

"I'm really thinking about partnering with them to take some of that money they are never going to give me"

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 26 points 3 weeks ago

Right?! Like he is like,
"Oh, charging rent for water, how neat! What's my cut for bombing you into doing so in the first place?"
As if they will be grateful for it or respect the art of the steal.

I'm considering a 'joint venture' with all billionaires where they give up all their wealth and we end world hunger, homelessness, and suffering.

Also my pet pig is considering a 'joint venture' with a set of wings to see how far he can fly.

We'll see which of these three happens first.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

My pet pig became pork chops, ham and bacon. I doubt if billionaires would be as tasty, but it's worth finding out.

Trump realizing that he can't win. So he's just gonna pretend he's on the other side.

The "Make Iran Great Again" is real.

  • End to sanctions
  • Control of the strait with a toll that didn't exist before
  • Price of oil absolutely boosting Irans economy
  • Still have Uranium and should absolutely make a nuke. The North Korea defense doctrine is proven correct.

Damn. Iran literally couldn't get a better deal here.

All they'd have to do is call it the Trump Peace Tariff and wire him a cut of it and he'd let them set it as high as they want.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 8 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Holy shit you are right. Do you think if they gave him a big enough direct cut they might even beat Israel for his love?

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I doubt it. I think Trump has a special humiliation fetish when it comes to Israel.

[–] icanbrewmushrooms@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Trumps relationship with Israel makes much more sense when you realise Epstein was a Mosad asset and therefore Netanyahu has an unredacted copy of the Epstein-Trump files.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 4 points 3 weeks ago

That and put his name on something. He'd call them "best friends" then.

[–] Zedstrian@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 weeks ago

With 20 million barrels of oil going through the straight daily, there's certainly be plenty of grift to go around if Trump somehow got them to allocate fees to his knockoff UN in the name of 'peace'.

The amount of grift in the military industrial complex and the value of arms shipments to Israel likely outpaces what he'd realistically get out of Iran. Regardless of the outcome of the war, oil profits and arms shipments are up, and Trump is undoubtedly getting kickbacks from it.

The Islamic Republic’s previous proposal to toll vessels drew criticism from Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He blasted the potential “tolling system” as “illegal” and “dangerous for the world,”

I just want to put emphasis that Marco Rubio is the straight man in this comedy routine, cause what the heck?

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Tolls are dangerous to the world.

An entire siege on a small Island nation who's only crime against the US has been the purging of slave plantation owners nearly 60 years ago, well, that's just "strategic" economics.

Fuck little Marco. He deserves to be [redacted] and [redacted] and then [redacted] like Mussolini in the town square.

I was hoping for more of a Gaddafi thing.

Begging for a piece of the action after losing the war.

If anything it should be a joint venture between Iran and Oman, the country on the other side of the strait that's mostly getting ignored in all this.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 6 points 3 weeks ago

Actually Iran offered Oman to charge on the toll as well and had I think offered some specific options for split.

Oman did not like the idea of angering the other countries as much and might regret it, since I think Iran will end up charging ships.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago

He always lies.

What happened is that he made the biggest threat he could (using nukes) and that still didn't work (perhaps he was planning to go with it and military refused? That firing of generals including one chaplain is suspicious) so he TACOd and to still claim a victory he now tries to play that he is actually on Iranian side of this war.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Well, there is this from the linked article:

Some of the accumulated fees would also be presented to Oman, though how the nation would use them is unclear.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 4 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah I dont know.
Literally the article seems confused about it too.
