Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Short article mentions it's an F15.

The longer our forces hang out, the more embarrassing this (war? special operation?) will become. We drop a million pounds of ordinance to level a few buildings, but all Iran has to do is hit a single aircraft to prove a point.

When ground forces move in (and they will...), Operation Save The Pedos will be fully underway.

The already shut down a straight by hitting a boat.

Europe is smart to stay out, they are missile range.

How long does America give Iran that Ukrainian drive to hit American populated targets. American's aren't squeamish about rocking theirs.

Operation Lethal Easter Bunny

[–] voxthefox@lemmy.blahaj.zone 37 points 1 week ago

This is what happens when you have anti-intellectualism at the top ranks of government, you end up with stupid decisions.

But didn’t the turnip say the iranian anti air was obliterated? Did the orange in chief lie? Quelle surprise!

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Obliterated just like their nuclear program.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago

They had to clarify enemy fire because several were already shot down by super-duper competent friendly fire.

[–] Decq@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Why search? They are a traitors to their country. If they were real protectors of their nation they would be flying that jet over the white house.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't let the haters get you down, you're 100% right to take this stance

I can't wait for all the "but they have families" bs....anyone who flies for the team bombing elementary schools, civilian infrastructure and cultural historical sites, I'm going to celebrate being shot down.

You know things are fucking bad when people are morally compelled to cheer for the fucking Iranian regime.

[–] Decq@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I expected the downvotes. Too many americans are so brainwashed to never criticize their troops and are blind to the propaganda they been fed every day since elementary school. Can we really blame them for actually believing it and not having a proper moral compass? I don't know, but the glorification of the military over there is absolutely disgusting.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It's true it's cultural indoctrination, but at this point there's no sympathy here. The indoctrination and dumbifying of the American population is in itself a national crime against humanity.

There is enough objectively reliable information out there and our brains have more than enough capability of understanding right from wrong and raising ourselves above tribalism.... if one can't do that for whatever reason, then they don't deserve defending from the consequences. Ignorance is not a defense, if I recall correctly.

So I'm with you. Fuck those pilots.

Downvoting not because of the celebration of death, but because of the assertion that they are traitors.

They are categorically not traitors. They are following orders from a military headed by a democratically-elected government. To disobey those orders, let alone turn their weapons against our government would be treason.

Traitors to humanity and decency, yes. But not to the United States. Racism, empire, and brutality are not "UnAmerican." To pretend that this isn't what we are is a pointless, false platitude grounded in propaganda that we've been fed since we were children. If Americans want to be better, then we need to undergo complete transformation, not just course correction. And part of that has to be letting go of these warped, atrophied feelings of patriotism for an ideal that doesn't and largely has never existed.

Participating in war of agression is hurting your country I think it is treason

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

They died for a pedophile.

[–] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Aww, not an F15! These are real classics and they're not being built anymore.

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The F15EX is in production. and multiple other models are being produced for other nations.

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Did Elon name that? F1-5EX!

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Elon doesn't build planes. What are you smoking.

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 7 points 1 week ago

Not yet. But with that 1.5T military budget next year, there may just be some kick-back money leftover. CyberPlane, here we come! (Flight time only guaranteed for the first 5 seconds. Landings are not covered).

Operation Epic Fuckup

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

Congratulations stupid scumbags. You follow a rapist, pedophile, warmongering shitpig's orders, you get consequences.

I hope the Iranians find them.

[–] CobraChicken3000@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

Now, who could have predicted that?

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

What a fucked up timeline where I'm here rooting for Iran.
