"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

“I made a serious mistake in using an AI tool on a draft review I had written, and I failed to identify and remove overlapping language from another review that the AI dropped in,”

Translation: I'm sorry I got caught.

One of the purest definitions of AI slop is not reviewing the output and delivering it directly to the audience.

LOL I love it when these clowns get fucked, avoiding plagiarism is one of the cornerstones with actually writing something. An LLM will never be able to do that, which is why writing is a job that should be left to humans! LLMs cannot think or critically consider the output about writing, they are coded to appear helpful and will dreg up content that would fulfill the request. That often leads to plagiarism, which a human writer during the creation process is trying to avoid, or will cite arguments from others to back up their claims.

Even in the works that I write (which will probably never see the light of day) I check my writing and if it appears to be TOO similar to another writer which I recently read or read in the past...

It gets deleted and I move on from it; Alex Preston forgot this and I am glad he faced consequences for his actions.
