Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

That's what I said after I GOT ALL WET AND SLOPPY WITH OP'S MOM because I helped her do the dishes after the delicious meatloaf dinner.

That's what a gentleman does before he LAYS SOME PIPE AND REARRANGES OP'S MOM'S plumbing situation because whoever did the pipe fitting before was clearly not certified, dang system looks like somebody threw spaghetti in a blender!

You know the taste when the dentist drills or polishes your teeth? That is you powdered teeth and because they are powdered they have a strong enough flavor.

They taste like tongue, and regret

[–] Breezy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I broke a tooth eating at an Indian curry buffet. Shatered a tooth eating some lamb curry full of bones. Spit tooth pieces out for a moth as the breakage finished. I definitely swallowed some. Didnt taste like anything. So i figured thats normal, if not we would be constantly tasting our teeth.

So to answer this question, someone might need to taste your teeth for you.

I had a tooth shatter in my jaw (stupid wisdom teeth) and the shards tasted of nothing, so I agree. Nothingness.

[–] Qwel@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You guys just don't grind your teeth fine enough.

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I mean the dentist ground down the spikes left by the shattered tooth until I could get in and get it pulled, and the dust tastes like. Well. Dust?

[–] Qwel@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 month ago

It's dust yeah, but it's a bit different than sand or sawdust. It has a slight taste to it, I wouldn't call it outright nothing.

Cheese but I put minty toothpaste on them to make them temporarily taste like mint until they taste like cheese again.

[–] nikolasdimi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

this is the fundamental meditation.

[–] ComradePenguin@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

Do your mouth and teeth taste something? I just taste whstever I just ate and bits and pieces that are left, if any.

[–] autriyo@feddit.org 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What does my mouth taste like?

[–] MojoMcJojo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Pucker up and let's find out

[–] JoshuaFalken@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Probably whatever you eat most often. Kind of how if one drinks too much coffee then they get stained.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

What do you want them to taste like? 😘

[–] toynbee@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago
[–] squaresinger@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

If you want to know, I can remove them from your mouth for a few days and return them after.

But why can't they taste like bone?

[–] gilokee@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

YEAH. They're almost bone. Someone educate me, I'm too lazy to look it up.
