Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

So she fundamentally doesn’t understand the world, how it works, and how it has and is currently working for her. Got it. Definitely put her in charge of some shit! Just kidding, fuck her.

Regardless of her arguments, AI still is theft.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io -3 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I agree with that. However, as I've discussed in other areas, the theft itself may be too far gone to catch the criminals. It's akin to a crime from past generations, since AI research is so fast.

So while there's a problem and a crime and victims... how do we best handle it? A full shutdown, ban, or do-over is not realistic. It's interesting how Fuck AI and Fuck Cars have a similar dilemma of agreeing there's a problem created a while ago, but any move to fix it is glacial because of the scope of the problem.

Bullshit.

The crime is happening right here, right now. Our ancestors put slavery, child labor, robber barons, and segregation to an end, and yet we are somehow powerless to stop corporations from being beholden to the very copyright laws that they helped create?

Bull-shit, my friend. We can do better.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Agreed again. We should be able to do better. However, it's interesting the list of other crimes you compare to it and call ended... are they? Also, the corporations are in power, so of course, using the very system they control to stop them is not going to work.

Don't be mad at me for pointing out the guy behind the curtain. I'm with you in the frustration and rage; I've just participated too long in the "we should do something" bandwagon to believe it much anymore.

[–] mrmaplebar@fedia.io 8 points 3 months ago

First, I'm not mad at you. 😅

Second, laws and regulation doing prevent people from doing bad things, they only disincentivize them. A life sentence for murder sadly doesn't prevent murders from happening. But we agree that it's important to dissuade would-be murderers.

I just don't like the defeatist attitude around this stuff. We can fight this exploitation of workers and creatives, and we should. This is not a legitimate way to do business.

Fuck AI and Fuck Cars

OMG how did you know these are the (only) two "fuck" communities I have subscribed?😳

Cars can be fucked by legislation. See how Amsterdam mostly achieved it. You can ban cars in a certain area. But fuck AI? We can shut down all AI companies in an area, but how do we also ban all AI companies in the whole world?

We can't even ban drugs on Earth as a whole.

Imagine being born with a silver fuckin' spoon in your mouth and still having a chip on your shoulder.

You wouldn't have a $185,000,000 AI startup if your dad wasn't Bill Gates, and he wouldn't have been the who he was if it wasn't for his parent's connections to the tech industry back in the 1970s. Would it kill you to have some fucking perspective?

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 53 points 3 months ago

Jesus fucking christ.

cycling through concepts before landing on a consumer tool that included Gates’ interest in women’s empowerment (likely modeled after her own mother) and Kianni’s sustainability focus.

So .. women's empowerment (buyin shit) and sustainability (water sucking, power draining AI chat bot). Slow clap

"185 million" and "no ties to my privilege". My ass, if having a well-connected billionaire father is no privilege, I don't know what is.

“Our target consumer is a young woman who’s hustling. She shops like a genius, but she doesn’t want to waste her time doing it,” Gates told Fortune’s Most Powerful Women editor Emma Hinchliffe in April 2025.

Patronising BS aside, it's a shopping assistant that compares prices and finds the best deal on an item. Not a terrible idea, not a new one either.

Not a terrible idea, not a new one either.

Yeah, agents/bots exist for years.

She would be better off taking over from jizzlane and her dad running pedostein island

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Pedostein island is a dumb nickname. It's called Kid Rock.

[–] outnumbered_int@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Thats like your opinion man

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago

I’ll take your wealth and we can see how you do then.

I wonder who are the 7 who downvoted the post?

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

There are people, who think upvotes mean you agree with the article. Hungary had public witchhunts over people liking articles of bad events of Facebook, because people thought the like meant "you like that happening".

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Go ahead and look.

Votes here are public knowledge.
