When Republicans say that libs are paying people to show up at protests...

...it's projection

[–] 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

Am I being paranoid or people actually think this is real and not satire or a joke?

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 55 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It's not priceless, you have to sit thru at least an hour of bullshit...

But $50 if $50. I'm sure a shit ton of people are at least trying to get the money up front and then go. Hopefully no one is dumb enough to believe they'd pay after, but a sucker's born every minute

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm curious how they would know if you actually attended or not. Like get paid upfront, and leave.

[–] nulluser@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

We're talking about people that are pathologicaly dishonest, so yeah. Either get paid up front or you're not getting paid. Don't waste your time.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 8 points 2 months ago

I'd just be on my phone the whole time.

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 53 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Release the Epstein files, and I’ll go see it for free.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The unredacted (except victim names), complete Epstein files.

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 19 points 2 months ago

Most of the victims have gone public and said they don't even care about redacting their names, they just want the files made public.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 2 months ago

Given that the president is the ultimate victim and his pals are doing the redacting, that will not help.

[–] grumpo_potamus@lemmy.world 30 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Doesn't specify which way you have to be facing while seated.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 20 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Or wearing noise cancelling headphones with a tablet watching or reading what you actually want to.

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

That's a 50 dolar discount on a vr headset

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Or standing up the entire time and just having a chat. Or holding a sign. Etc.

[–] huppakee@piefed.social 7 points 2 months ago

standing up the entire time

Well it does specify to remain in seats

Send a bunch of homeless people.

[–] bruhbeans@lemmy.ml 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Do you still get the $50 if you roast the movie at the top of your voice?

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 50 points 2 months ago

You're not going to get the money no matter what. See that bit where it says you have to stay in your seat the whole time? That means they are going to pay you afterwards. Everyone knows, or should know, that with Trump, you need to get your money up front or you won't get it at all.

[–] Red_October@piefed.world 19 points 2 months ago (3 children)

There are the same people who accuse every protest of being full of paid protestors.

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 months ago

Every accusation is an admission

[–] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To be fair posts like this are impossible to verify

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 2 months ago

They are not, you can verify the ad exists on craigslist, and then you can verify with people that answered the ad. The president did this with a bunch of his rallies, and they talked to a lot of the people that did it.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 months ago

it's the only way they can imagine neighbors talking to each other on friendly terms because it's how they operate.

[–] archonet@lemy.lol 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

See, I'd get a group of friends together and just go to loudly make fun of and criticize the film the whole way through if it's that unpopular. If you know nobody is there because they actually want to see it, then it's not like you're disturbing anyone's experience. And if you are, it's probably someone who deserves it.

Smuggle in your own snacks and I bet it'd be worth the free admission just for the possible dirty looks you'll get from any maga in the audience, to hell with whether they pay out the money or not -- and if they ask you to leave: "but I was told I had to stay in my seat the whole time, will you still be paying me my $50 if I go?". And if for some strange reason they do, all the better.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Make sure to go in some cheesy, giant alien muppet costumes.

I see that the $50 promo has since been cancelled...shocking that people aren't going to get that money. Truly shocking.

[–] ch00f@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

There being a link doesn’t prove anything. These things pop up all the time claiming to pay people to come to a protest or whatever. Let me know when a single person posts about getting paid.

[–] West_of_West@piefed.social 4 points 2 months ago

Damn, what a day to find out what a grotesque human Ratner is.

[–] AuroraZzz@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Lol. Rich are paying people to prop up her shitty movie, then writing it off as a tax deduction

[–] mavu@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 months ago

pay me up front, and i'll go. i have a sleeping mask, and good noise canceling headphones.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

must remain in seats for the entirety of the film

Yeah that is a deal breaker for me, unless I can put up my noise cancelling headphones and what's a good movie on my phone while that shit is playing

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

On a side note: Amazon is fucking complicit as fuck with this administration. Bezos made this happen. When this is over, and soon enough it will be, we CANNOT forget the roles that billionaires (and especially certain billionaires) have played in all this.

These billionaires need to be stripped of their wealth and jailed for life as far as I'm concerned. They are traitors to the country, and they happily sold out the entire population to a maniac dictator wannabe just to earn an extra buck

They should be fucking hanging from trees as an example to others.

NO MORE MILLIONAIRES, NO MORE BILLIONAIRES

I want a word wide hard wealth cap. You worth over a million? All the rest of your income goes 100% to taxes until you're below again

[–] iThinkDifferentThanU@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

they're unamerican, no one likes to pay them, but most nirmal people do, but not the unamerican wealthy cunts jail/prison is way to nice, head on a pike at every entrance to the country as a warning

[–] massacre@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I'm just preparing myself for the crushing down votes here, but you're going to have a hard time with the no more Millionaires angle. A HUGE chunk of the US are millionares, at least on paper with their houses alone. If you weave in retirement, it's going to be many, many more. Plus with inflation this is only going to get more saturated.

Can we draw the line at say... 100M and tie it to what the median Net Worth going forward? I'm just being realistic on messaging to get the most impact from your statement. There are very very few people at 10M Net Worth, and after 100M, you're into the super greed and not like professionals: Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Plumbers, Electricians, Dentists, Engeineers, & etc. who've actually earned that money and are in their late careers vs. making it off someone else's back. If they got there earning a check or even many small businesses it's probably pretty legit.

I can't however, see how anyone could get to 100M without 1) Family/Inheritance, 2) Big Business and all that entails, 3) Lottery, and 4) Illegally: Grift, Corruption, Stock Manipulation, illicit drugs, Weapons, etc.
