I really should go to bed, as I start work again tomorrow. Don't wanna - enjoying the coolth ahead of tomorrow. Still, work does have aircon, it's just the pt trip there and back that's going to be a horror show. Waaaaaaah.

Ted informs me it's breakfast time.
Good luck today everyone ๐คstay safe out there.
Jesus Christ it's still meant to be 41 at 7pm ๐ซ ๐ซ ๐ซ
I just saw that! And Friday is shaping up to be a real danger day too. I convinced (didn't take much) my whole team to WFH for the rest of the week at least (unless someone needs the A/C). About to go for a quick swim then lock down.
It's definitely a mix at my work, people wanting to come in for the Air con (or just free air con) and people who absolutely don't wanna fuck with PT today

Arrived at work. Over 500 emails awaiting my attention (or lack thereof). Pray for me.

Just a PSA that a bunch of library services around Melbourne and Vic are running extended hours today to provide cool spaces for people. I know Mooney Ponds and Hobsons Bay are so assume a lot of them are doing the same.
Few weeks ago was stung by a bee and yesterday bitten by a bullant and I want to share w/ everybody my scientific findings:
EDIT:

Fr tho.
Billant is like fuckFUCK OW OW BASTARD ok i'm good. Bee is WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE YOU BASTARD
Not so fun event first aid tent visit: getting lemon juice treatment for a bullant bite to the butt
Itโs a hot oneโฆ like seven inches from the midday sun ๐๏ธ
Plants are watered & cooling is on. Pray to the electricity gods no power outages and to the appliance gods no aircon breakdowns. Hopefully you are all staying cool at work or home or elsewhere.
warm out there already
inspectors on the werribee line getting passengers on the way to the beach
Way too hot for beach ๐ฅ
I went at 7 am. It was pretty busy !
To Catfish. Um, could you please take the suncatcher down temporarily - it's working just a little too well atm.
I shall make a request of Their Majestic Selfness. As with most prayer type things holding your breath is inadvisable.

Just so long as it works by about 9 pm tonight. If His Nibs is laggard, I will have a few words with Him.
Really enjoying Arc Raiders, haven't run into any PvP yet. Just chill looting and avoiding evil robots.
Ok this intrigues me. I avoid all PvP games like the plague (spent too much of my 20s on LoL, WoW, and Rust), but Arc Raiders looks so cool!
So the fact you haven't had any PvP yet, piques my interest ๐ค
I did just get jumped, but mostly I've found very little pvp, it really put me off at first too.
Stayed up most of the night intending on enjoying the cool and sleeping through today.
Well, I ended up falling asleep anyway and waking up at 10am. Sigh.
I didn't want to conscious when Melbourne is teleported to the surface of the Sun.
Leaving the gym earlier, there was a ridiculous line (easy 100 people deep) waiting to get into the crowded indoor pools that are part of the complex. Having to wait for people to leave before letting a new group in. The line snaked around outside too, all these people waiting in the heat for crowds and craziness. No thank you.
At that point, stand in the shower.
That's absolutely crazy. It seems like a great idea, but a line like that would have me scurrying for a library, shopping centre, gym, etc!
That was last week at Brimbank Aquatic centre....we went to work out and the lineup was bonkers.
I don't get sunburned but even I'm feeling a bit hot under the collar.
Aaaaand the warehouse team has hit hot grumpy point. Doesn't help hearing that my partner's work has shut for the day and sent everyone home early. And that the two men in the warehouse with me ate super spicy noodles on a hot day. I went out earlier and stocked up the fridge with zooper doopers, hydralite icy poles and other goodies on the company dime.
At least I can retreat to my office and enjoy the aircon (there is also aircon in the warehouse office, I'm not fully abandoning them).
This article has a link at the end to a SydUni tool for estimating risk for exercising in the heat. Tool seems more than a bit fucky to me, but I am no expert.
heat wave advice
I am physically fine (apartment A/C is holding up and I am free to work here all week and not in a fire area) but I'm really jumpy today. I dunno if its just because I am back at work too soon or if I have just lived through too many general disasters + my general climate anxiety. I keep thinking I'm missing something and wanting to check here and the other place and vic emergency. Maybe its just the lack of natural light from closed blinds. Going to put some ambient music on and try to focus....
I don't cope without natural light. Try one blind open and see if that helps.
Windows are west facing so not keen on that but did just go stand outside for a bit. I might set a timer for breaks
7 hours until 10pm, when BoM says it will be 23ยฐC.
I'm comprised almost entirely of cold European climate genes, I wasn't built for this ๐ซ

Same, Iโm not going out there
Similar DNA composition here. Thank God for AC and good cool air circulation in the house.
Hope everyone is keeping cool as much as humanly possible.
Building fire flagged down the road, four trucks responded very, very quickly but it doesn't seem like anything is happening, thank fuck.
I think my brain is melting because I spent an hour scrolling Facebook.
