New event for the Dog Olympics.. How far can doggo obnoxiously move its bowl down the hallway at 6:30am wanting brekkie.

Doggo is not being obnoxious, rather alerting you to a fault in the current system (I.e. lack of food)

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Expressed as an absolute distance? Or as a percentage of the available hallway length? Also bowl quality and materials - ceramic would be significantly harder to shift than Temu steel/aluminium. And hallway floor covering - carpet or boards or rugs? Hard to standardise into a sporting event I think. Would be fun to watch tho.

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

lol these are all very good things to consider.

Also how many decibels.

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm sure it'll get more complicated if there were laps involved.

Come into work, setting myself up and I go and make a cup of coffee for myself as pr ritual demands.

Someone's in there that I don't know. We say good morning and hello, then she ask says "Are you IT?"

My mood instantly changes and I respond with "No, I'm "admin"."

I turn my back and finish making my coffee in complete silence and walk out.

screams nothing like being stereotyped before 8am.

Now I'm moody.

Stuff you!

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Why? Pretty sure shes just looking for help and doesnt know who to ask. Its not a personal attack, its a hopeful request.

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I absolutely do not like people asking if I'm IT straight of the bat without proper introductions and names.

This is not the first occurrence and it's always asking if I'm in IT, that is not my occupation

I have a right to be pissed at being stereotyped and pigeonholed and also not being courteous enough to introduce yourself with a name.

I don't go up to people and say hey, you're the nanny right based on their looks.

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I have a right to be pissed at being stereotyped and pigeonholed and also not being courteous enough to introduce yourself with a name.

I'm sorry but I just dont see it as either of those things? From what you've said it sounds like a person rather rudely looking for help. You were there of course, i'm just going off your description.

I am IT, this has happened to me heaps and its never ruined my day. Not trying to invalidate your feelings, and I say this with care: I think maybe this is something you want to talk to someone about. The emotions don't really match the description of the situation here.

One bad interaction shouldnt have you so upset.

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I have self worth and a self awareness of what makes me who I am.

I have a very keen sense of also being treated properly and not on the assumptions of my racial background.

In addition to that if someone wants something from me, I don't care who you are but you're going to have to say hello and good morning and introduce yourself before demanding anything from me because I don't believe in being treated like a tool or an in demand service, I'm not at anyone's beck and call either.

I don't need to see anyone about this, I just have an understanding of my own self worth and how I should be treated professionally on a day to day basis and it starts with manners.

That's not how things work in the workplace.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„ I'm sorry man, racial profiling is so farked

Christ, it's not only the racist assumption it's the violation of office protocol and basic social politeness as well. Triple bullshit.

Bet she's management

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago

Yeah, it's the combo that really does it for me.

I've seen her around the place but I'm not exactly sure what she does, maybe she's in early childhood centre as I didn't see her in the staff workroom upstairs.

Hmm so I don't think I had the cold after all, I think I was going through a caffeine withdrawal - built up far too much of a tolerance and wasn't flushing it out of my system properly all these weeks, hence constantly feeling tired (and then trying to drink more to keep myself going).

After a full day of hell with the headaches, nausea and not getting out of bed, I feel heaps better - woke up clear-headed, without feeling lethargic (haven't felt that way in a while), naturally got out of bed at 8am, put away my dishes and having a light breakfast with a SMALL amount of coffee.

I can't wait to finish this thing so I can properly investigate dialling down my caffiene intake altogether, maybe switch back to green tea like I did years ago.

Yesterday I had a flu shot and a physio appointment and I felt fine. Today, I ache all over.

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago

This year's flu jab knocked me around the two days post injection.

Good news is that it works really well (at least for me). Already know a few people I came into contact with, are down with the flu, whereas I'm dealing with mild sniffles.

PSA: The bloke down the road that grows the most AMAZING roses has just hard pruned his roses back to practically bare stumps. As has his chief rival further down the street. Hmm - gardening is on the agenda this weekend methinks.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's pretty crazy how quickly they grow back though! At my old place in Epping, there was a rose bush right near the front door. One year I trimmed it back, as it was getting all tentacle-y and big. Then boom, it grew back bigger and stronger than ever, way more flowers, leaves and thorns. It was nuts!

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, roses like being treated meeeeaaan.

not on my smashed avo style rant about a class mate being disrespectful

I have a particular class where the tutor spends a lot of time talking about her lived experience, and asks people to share theirs (to less of an extent than she shares about herself though). Sometimes she can spend the whole two hours talking, to the detriment of our learning. She provides some bits of knowledge important to assessments that are quite valuable because of her lived experience and research, but the rest of her speech just doesn't resonate with a number of people in the class.

Not everyone has to enjoy her style of presenting, but the blatant disrespect from one particular class member is just disgusting. We had to sit in a circle and share ideas, and someone spent a really long time trying to articulate their ideas. They were just rambling. This one particular class member said within earshot of me,

"Shut up!"

I don't think anyone really heard it, but I did, because I was right next to him.

Then during the next class, I sat near this classmate again, and the whole time, he was scrolling through social media and messaging people. Every so often, he'd glance up. Because he only paid attention to what the tutor was saying for short moments, he only heard the parts where she hadn't made her point, and just heard rambling.

He started to bang on the table, and then he turns to me and says, "This class is so boring!"

The way the tutor teaches is based on story sharing, and is part of her culture's pedagogy. I can understand the other point of view, in that, having to listen to someone talk for almost two hours straight is a drainer. I find it quite difficult to pay attention to whatever the tutor is saying, as despite her prolific lived experience and wisdom that she shares amongst her rambles, I am just not good at listening for that long. I don't think anyone is.

However, banging on the table and telling someone to shut up, is blatant disrespect. I was always taught to be respectful to the people around me, and even if I wasn't able to focus for so long, I wouldn't be inclined to start making comments about it. I would potentially give the tutor feedback in private about wanting to participate more actively in the learning.

Also, I should mention that this person is a FUTURE TEACHER.

I felt like I should've called him out. Imagine if someone did that in his class.

Mini dog walk done.

Ran into a recently spayed doggo so naturally hambam tries to get it on.. naturally at the wrong end. Poor other doggo was a little confused.

Well Iโ€™ve already messed up my sleeping pattern and donโ€™t have anything much on tomorrow. The baby is all drowsy and tucked up.

Started tackling the dread twin peaks (Mt Washmore and Dishmore)
