Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Whatever happened, it's more valuable now.

Nothing says "I do not care, this is beneath my ability to even think about and in no way affects my decision-making" like painting on your clothing in response to a comment.

It really sells how little she thinks about it.

Just like when someone comments/messages/texts several huge long paragraphs in an argument while constantly saying "I don't care", you can feel the apathy.

To your last point- Posting comments on lemmy is an incredibly low-effort move.

That was supposed to be Melania? Holy shit, she should be thanking whoever did this.

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Somebody similar gifted was the artist I suppose.

readjusting to how far standards for.. everything have fallen across western civilization in the last few years, I now think that third painting looks great to me. Lets not let the perfect be the enemy of the good, right.

The sculpture was created in 2020 by American artist Brad Downey, after a wooden sculpture of the first lady was torched by arsonists. Downy said he is "a bit sad that it's gone".

The article claims some of the locals have"great pride"in her becoming the first lady... Why? How is that an accomplishment?

[–] ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 11 points 11 months ago

On the one hand, the first lady is certainly a fairly highly regarded position where women have been able to influence politics and affect change for a long time, even before women were really allowed to be in politics formally.

On the other hand, having married happenstance some guy that becomes president is obviously not a feat of any kind. But at the same time, in the old-school patriarchal sense of values, a woman married to a politically powerful man is considered to be above other women. Even in far pettier situations. The governor’s wife, the senator’s wife, hell even a mayor’s wife

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 7 points 11 months ago

She sold ger body to the Cheeto. In on itself that's fine, to each their own, but to be proud of that? Yeah, no

[–] redlemace@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

so at some point she was smoking hot ?

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 3 points 11 months ago

Right and specially far right are really proud of our beloved "cashbitch" Melania for some reason, probably they see her as successfull for some stupid reason. But then again, the leader of the biggest far right party congratulated the Orange for victory in 2020 elections 🤷‍♂️

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 34 points 11 months ago

Someone 86'd it.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 28 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It wasn’t stolen, it ran away.

[–] GroundedGator@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

Trump had it stolen and brought to the Whitehouse so he can spend time with his wife.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 26 points 11 months ago

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That picture of the stump with nothing but the feet remaining - priceless. I want a framed version of that.

[–] dojan@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

It’s so funny. Wasn’t this like, the second statue of her too? I’m sure they burned the original.

why was there a statue of this useless whore

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

The same reason the average Trump voters' mom's phone number is carved into every truck stops bathroom door.

[–] Pnut@lemm.ee 7 points 11 months ago

I had a road sign that was stolen that said "open man holes". Y'all need to be more funny.

[–] D_C@lemm.ee 6 points 11 months ago

Check the local toilets. Maybe a urinal broke and they needed a replacement quickly?

[–] JoShmoe@ani.social 5 points 11 months ago

Trump: ..a fine statue. Really fine. The best! I have to say, I could’ve gotten them a better deal.
