Hi, i'm looking at a replacement for my garmin forerunner 305.

Something that fits running and swimming, preferablu not from usa, has good privacy, and .... Can be read without my reading glasses.

Most can be found in comparisons, but not readability without reading glasses.

But I can't be the only one ;) Any recomendations?

Glass wool

Ohh I remember my first glass wool! Huuuuuge pile soft material on a construction site. We jumped a couple of times in it from the 2nd story. It was all fun until half an hour later. Even though it was plastic wrapped, it itched like hell! (only looked at mineral wool ever since)

it's not IF it's only WHEN .... One day I suddenly 'see' how it needs to be, that's when

Are trying to make me envy or are you planting ideas in my head?

I looked it up.... I saw a cast iron skillet and cast iron press .... Can't help myself, GOTTA do it, come what may

true silence i experienced once in an anechoic chamber.

Scarriest silence i've ever heard: a full power-down of a server room i had spent many hours in.

Wrap them in bacon to become king of the party

Smoked shotgun shells will change your mind

Surgery wasn't bad, the narcose got me bad though. Lying, reading, surfing and getting up every quarter to walk. No painkillers the last 24 hours, injected myself and Getting up is getting easier, i'd call it progress.

Okay here is the thing. I have a garmin forerunner which i love for i can read the screen without my reading glasses. I use it for running and cycling. I pull the data directly from it on my debian desktop and upload gpxfiles. A huawei band9 is used for swimming.

For privacy, and as part of usa ban and leaving big tech wanna leave garmin and strava preferably after data export. User friendly and ease of use play hardly a role.

Any recomandations for self hosted solutions? It looks especially hard to avoid strava to get my swim data from the huawei app exported. Buying new device('s) isn't on top of the list but not out of the question.

Any experiences with measuring the water level in a well? My well is less than 5 Meters deep and 20 Meters from the house (no electricity available (yet, but who knows)

Gonna put up an ip camera in the garden and see what wildlife comes by at night.

Edit: job completed. Frigate is pulling the stream.......

I know, nobody is usually happy with that, but I am!

4 years back I had to quit running due to abdominal pain. I've seen doctors, been to fysio, many examinations -including röntgen- but no one found anything. Still tried dozens of treatments but nothing helped. A few weeks ago the pain worsened and new symptoms arrived. Without hope I made another appointment, and it was the shortest of all :Inguinal hernia.

The plan is to operate early next year. Hey, what's a few weeks added to four years right? I'm quite sure it's the root-cause but who can say? I don't dare to hope, but driving home I saw myself running again in the back of my head and that's when my vision troubled for a short period.

Okay, I discovered navidrome this weekend and it's what i was looking for as a on-the-road solution so I migrated to it instantly.

But now, at home I use 3 raspberry-pi's (headless units, no X installed) with mpd which is controlled using mpc and/or home assistant. I like it, it's simple, convenient and super lightweight. a cronjob assures music is turned off in the evening, a script polls the joystick from the sensor-hat and a super tiny web gui, all relying on mpc.

Can I use navidrome as a music source instead of the current samba shares? It would reduce indexing of the nas down from 4 to 1 client.

Other ideas are welcome too.

Well, the radio on the countryside sucks (here at last). At home i use raspberry-pi's with mpd to listen to internet radio or my mp3 collection. But on the road .,..... Radio apps are loaded with ad's and/or you need a periodic deny all cookies.

So I m looking fore something else on my phone similar to my pi with mpd. Anyone implemented (re)stream internet from home to android?
