"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
Rules:
- Relevant posts only.
- No bigotry.
- This isn't a place to talk about the cons and (supposed) pros of AI for different use cases. This is /c/fuck_ai .
- Especially no AI advocacy.
- Don't make any posts that are just AI content with no context unless the point of your post is obvious from content. (Don't just post slop advertisements or slop political cartoons. At least make your point about it clear so we know you aren't just trolling.)
- Venting is part of the purpose of this community, but don't aim frustration or accusations at other users.
- These rules are a living document that may change in the future.

Even if cancer had already been entirely cured, that still wouldn't make me want to take up smoking.
The cure is likely to still be at least somewhat invasive and unpleasant. Even if it's just a matter of a single injection or something, I'd still prefer to avoid that.
I don't want my clothes and all my belongings to be coated with a brown sheen of tobacco miasma.
I enjoy having 100% of my lung capacity available.
Cigs are expensive.
90% chance this guy is simply lying about this and talking out of his ass.
10% chance that he's got some employees who are so sycophantic and eager to prove their dedication that they've actually done this as a stupid way to try and impress their boss.
0% chance that anyone has actually started smoking solely because they're sure AI will cure cancer soon.
Yeah and there's still COPD and emphysema. The thought of not being able to properly exhale and instead only continually inhale is terrifying. I smoked for about 15 years, finally quit 20 years ago and will never touch another!
