Finished Season 1 of Re:Zero. It capped the season off very nicely. One could argue Emilia was a little too quick to forgive, but that's just kind of who she is. I followed that up with the first OVA, and uh wow. That was fun. It felt a little like the OVA's writer(s) were calling out the original work on what it did to Rem's character, which is very fair. Overall just a good time. Shame it (probably) isn't canon.

I also watched a couple of episodes of the second season of Umamusume. I was deeply amused by the scene where a certain horse girl wouldn't enter the gate. I looked it up, and sure enough it was based off of real-life events. There's even a video out there that shows both side-by-side, because of course there is. My favorite parts of this show are usually bits like this where I'm reminded that the horse girls are based off of real horses. Fun stuff.

As for the current seasonals:

  • Akane-banashi continues to be fun
  • I really liked the latest Daemons of the Shadow Realms episode. I noticed some people had concerns, and all I can really say without spoilers is: watch and find out. This was written by a writer, and they know what they're doing.
  • I watched the first episode of Agents of the Four Seasons. It was good, but it didn't really grab me. I think I would've liked it more if Hinagiku didn't speak the way she does. Perhaps it has something to do with trauma from her past. If so, hopefully she'll stop talking like that because it's kind of annoying tbh.
  • I still need to get caught up on the latest Snowball Earth episode. Hopefully it was good.

Wait what, the OVAs aren't canon??

They had damned well better, because I'm still pissed.

From any reasonable point of view, Gabby should be dead now - preferably torn in half and made to suffer as much as all of the innocents she just murdered. But instead, she's being treated like a child and carefully strapped onto a stretcher because poow widdle fing got shot by an arrow oh boo hoo.

It's going to take a LOT of pretty smart and entirely unexpected plot twisting to turn that into anything other than a travesty.

Just keep in mind that you've only seen part of one side of the story there.

Holy shit calm down.

You think it's normal to have someone walk down a mountain after getting shot in the leg and shoulder by arrows?

It’s going to take a LOT of pretty smart and entirely unexpected plot twisting to turn that into anything other than a travesty.

I don't think it really needs to be that smart or unexpected. The situation is supposed to be confusing, but it's also supposed to make the audience (and Yuru) question why everyone is doing what they're doing and whether anyone can be trusted at all.

No - I saw virtually every adult in a peaceful village die horribly, screaming in agony, while their children screamed in terror.

You think it’s normal to have someone walk down a mountain after getting shot in the leg and shoulder by arrows?

Much more normal than getting bitten in half.

I'm sure much less painful too.

I don’t think it really needs to be that smart or unexpected.

I do.

Unless what we're heading toward here is gray-and-grey morality, so all Gabby needs to be is maybe just somewhat less evil, or even just somewhat cuter, than whoever she's viciously murdering.

Though I'd like to expect better of Arakawa.

It'd be cool if you can share it - maybe as a clip? I'm not sure if I have seen this scene/IRL-comparison video myself.

Sure! https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm38324654

The part I was talking about starts at 2:45 or so.
