An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

What’s a breakfast roll?

Edit: yes, I guess it’s a roll you only have at breakfast, but is there something that forbids them the rest of the day? Do you have special rolls for each meal?

Of course. This is Germany after all. It's all laid out in the Frühstücksbrötchenzeiteinteilungsgesetz.

you'd think that, but a breakfast roll is your morning poop

[–] Codpiece@feddit.uk 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

And that warrants its own knife?

Breakfast roll refers to both the food and the after event. Both need their own knife, but some use the same knife, a shared knife, if you will.

If you don't know the poop knife story, here it is, archived off Reddit:

I could have happily lived out the rest of my life in the ignorance I was accustomed too.

TIL American toilets have a much higher water line than the ones I’m used too. And some people need a poop knife.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 months ago

No one has a poop knife.

It’s sorta an English breakfast folded into a French baguette. I guess it’s an acquired taste: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakfast_roll

That doesn't look anything like what they mean by breakfast rolls in Germany. These look much more like it: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br%C3%B6tchen

They are topped with butter, followed by cheese or minced meat. Or, in the morning, people tend to prefer sweet toppings such as jam or hazelnut nougat spread.

I somehow missed the “German” in the post, sorry. Much better! I am very fond of Deutsche Brötchen <3

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yikes! This is an affront to the sacred tradition of Frühstücksbrötchen.

On the one hand, you are right.
On the other hand:
Would!
