Rules:

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:
- Articles must be relevant to US politics and contain quality and original content. Social Media adjacent hosts like Substack are allowed, but ONLY if they tie back to a company/subsidiary. No personal or friend group blogs and no self-promotion. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and re-hosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing other users of being bots or paid actors.
- No memes, trolling, misinformation, or low-effort posts/comments (including reposts). If you see posts like this that anger you, do not engage. Report, block, and live a happier life than they do. Any slap-fight is subject to comment removals. Fights full of rule violations will result in temporary bans to cool off.
- No manipulating votes via bots or alt accounts; this will result in permanent bans. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in an account ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be permanently banned.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules and use critical thinking when reading, posting, and commenting. Users that repeatedly have comments or posts removed, weaponize reports, or violate the code of conduct, will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users. The reason(s) behind moderator action(s) are publicly available through the Modlog.

My pet theory is that Schumer will agree to not run again, and AOC will take over his seat without primary opposition, as long as she promises to not run against Newsom for President.

What do you mean? Making a backroom deal to get the Next One Up across the finish line is exactly how they operate
yeah but AOC is someone the public could get behind as a genuine crusader for the small fry.
DNC historically backstabs people like that the hardest, in order to push the totally-not-republican-in-everything-but-name candidate on America.
The DNC backstabs those folks if they run for President, but would have no problem backing a certain victory for a Senate seat.
They just backstabbed someone running for mayor...

Outwardly sure, they will talk nice. But they aren't going to do any favors for the man.
My fingers are crossed for a Walz/AOC ticket.
I really want AOC as president, but it's already fucking clear with the past 2 women nominees that the USA, despite claiming it is "progressive", will not vote for a woman. Even a white woman couldn't make it, what makes you think a brown one will again?
Only time I see it happening is if there is mass social upheaval, a desire for change like with Obama. Today, the propaganda machine has amplified and division is rooted deeply. We crossed the Rubicon as a nation.
Hillary had no likeability and Kamala had little time and was courting centrists.
I think AOC will make a perfect Presidential candidate, in 2040 or 2048 after a few terms in the Senate. She will still be "young" by Presidential standards. Maybe by then many of the misogynists will have died off.
Don't get me wrong: she would make an extremely good candidate in 2028 too. But I don't think she has a chance of winning in the current climate. Too many people won't vote for a woman right now, but are self-aware enough to know they can't admit it anymore, so will come up with bullshit reasons why they can't do it.
If she is on my ballot she is getting my vote, full stop. But I want to keep her for NY for a while longer.
The main problem is that by then the character assassination will be complete. Right now it's still just underway.
Or maybe those women had dog shit policies. Nope, no introspection allowed, just play the victim card and learn absolutely nothing.
