She's had her horns removed with a hot iron at a very young age as well

[–] nova@lemmy.vg 31 points 10 months ago (3 children)

She was also likely taken from her mother shortly after birth, never to see her again.

yup, can't have the calf drink too much of that milk

[–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 10 months ago

Also need to raise the calf alone in a tiny plastic shelter for a few weeks so it can be butchered.

[–] Honytawk@feddit.nl 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Clearly not, as meliaesc explains.

[–] Fleur_@aussie.zone 1 points 9 months ago

They literally said they didn't milk it which would make it not a dairy cow

[–] KombatWombat@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Which scenario do you think is more representative of the average cow's life?

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Polled cattle are a thing.

[–] cows_are_underrated@feddit.org 3 points 9 months ago

Not necessarily. It is possible to breed cows that do not grow horns.
