Yep! I don't want anything to do with it. I don't care if it's an optional component, it'll be optional until it isn't.

Whatever your preferred matrix client is. That's the alternative. Element, Nheko, Fluffychat, all decent options.

Is it perfect? Hardly. Is it the best you're going to get short of some cheap discord knockoff? Yes.

God I hate steam fanboys so fucking much. There is no such thing as a corporation which cares about you. Every single action is done to keep profits up.

You could just do what the rest of us did and nod your head and not defend walmart?

It's not like walmart is above it, and it certainly isn't like walmart needs you defending them.

These are peaceful rallies steered by liberal groups. Those thousands of protestors aren't exactly militant, they didn't show up for that. If any radical action actually happened those people will leave and never show up again.

As I move into bigger and bigger cities the people around me insist the answer is no, but I regularly leave the doors unlocked. I also have no issue hitchhiking either so, maybe i'm a bit of an outlier. I've got infinite levels of trust in people.

IMO yes they'd be successful.

Full disclosure, my experience with hypno is more kink related and not in a medical context, so my experience will be drastically different than those that get into hypno for therapy because most of the time the people performing it in my case are amateurs leaning heavily on preexisting dom/sub power dynamics (ie not "true" hypnosis). YMMV.

I don't really visualize things in my head at all. Sometimes on a good day I can imagine almost a fuzzy smoke like outline, but this isn't a typical day for me. I can imagine sounds, smells, tastes and especially touch/sensations.. ickplant@lemmy.world made a great point in one of the comments here. Using the word "pretend" is a far better delivery.

In my personal sessions I have the best experience when people can suspend my disbelief and make me believe they are incredibly skilled, even if maybe they aren't. Part of that is just me really wanting to be hypnotized, and honestly that's the biggest thing. If you want hypnotized you will be hypnotized, and if you don't, you won't.

I can pretty much just think about the sensation I feel during hypnosis and put myself into a sort of pseudo trance at this point. I listen to audios occasionally and try and do a session with someone about once every couple months. I'm not really fully educated on the mechanics of it all, but I know I enjoy it.

Please explain how this in anyway could even remotely be mocking dependency?

As if flash games weren't 75% dressup games, tower defense, and shit platformers. We still got plenty of that slop don't worry, we just have other kinds of slop to go with it.

Didn't we already find out Linus is a scumbag to work for like, 2-3 years ago? Why do we still spread around his content? He's a talentless hack that got lucky being one of the early tech personalities on youtube through NCIX

I messaged everyone I know locally today to try and get a band of even 2-3 people to just hold up a sign at an intersection or something in response to what is happening with Venezuela. Not one person would go with me. I emailed my local DSA weeks ago to prepare for things and never got a response from them either.

It's short notice so I didn't have huge expectations, but I know some of these people aren't busy. They just don't care anymore. Got burnt out over the last couple years.

So tomorrow I'll be out alone. I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but fuck.

Found out through this article that some random source distro I've never heard of has successfully gotten firefox 145 up and running on a 32bit cpu.

Seeing that some distro maintainers actually are fighting to keep providing 32bit packages made my little nerd self very happy. Fingers crossed they can keep it working for a while. (And ofc, all hardware has to stop being supported eventually, doesn't make it any less sad when they day comes.)

The distro is T2 linux, and the package can be found here

(edit: Got what I needed! Thanks)

I did my yearly order from Lilian a few days ago, DHL is needing me to pay a $20 fee, and I'm just a few bucks short of being able to pay it.

I've recently seen a trend in tech communities on lemmy where people have developed this mentality that computer hardware is as disposable as a compostable cup, and that after 10-15 years you should just chuck it in the bin and get something new. If someone asks for tech support, they'll just be told to buy new hardware. If someone is saddened their hardware is no longer supported by software they are just entitled, need to pull up their bootstraps, and "only" spend $100 to get something used that will also not be supported in 5 years. It doesn't matter if there is actual information out there that'll help them either. If the hardware is old, people will unanimously decide that nothing can be done.

I've seen this even in linux communities, what happened to people giving a damn about e-waste? Why is the solution always to just throw money at the problem? It's infuriating. I've half a mind to just block every tech/software community other than the ones on hexbear at this point.

I am a former member of the now defunct project Red Spectre (which is where I met Saul).

Saul and I have been online friends for most of the last ~9months or so. He's a nice enough kid, but ofc has his flaws. Personally I find him to be a well read person and I am convinced that the majority of his time is spent studying theory or editing Revolupedia articles.

Saul is young. Only 18, and last I knew was still going to school. He also (in the last few months) was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, which is why I am making this post. Saul often comes to me in my discord dms and is terrified that you all are plotting against him. I do not think any of you are, and I tell him that, but he is rather paranoid about it. I've told him repeatedly that he should ignore it, y'all are just making stupid memes and jokes, but he will not listen. When I first met Saul he didn't seem to have any issues with delusions but then one day he just...did. He's been in and out of the psychward, trying new medications, but he's really really been struggling.

As I understand, he did considerable damage to the prolewiki and leftypedia projects, I am sorry on his behalf. Even if he wouldn't agree with me, I don't think it was good what he did, and I know that you all are just as passionate to see change in the world as he is. I know for a fact he would be devastated if someone wrecked his revolupedia project in the same manner that he wrecked prolewiki.

I'm far from some big shot communist or anything, I'm just a 25 year old that's read a bit of this or that, and tabled a couple times for various parties. Still, I come here asking if people could just avoid talking about him? I can't exactly expect the entirety of this community to never mention him, but I also can't control Sauls internet usage. I just feel bad for him and I don't know what else to do.
