Thank you for coming over from Threads and teaching us a valuable lesson.

lololol no, you're right, voters should absolutely represent our politicians and not the other way around. Please reply with the same meme again if you agree.

This is a great point. There are some people who just will never vote for a candidate if they feel that the person supports genocide, even if it means their livelihood will be impacted! I guess we should factor those voters in when we select candidates. Would hate to lose again!

Correct. You cannot use TC and a VPN at the same time.

  1. Check out Tracker Control https://trackercontrol.org/

  2. You might want to take another look at "I don't care about cookies." IIUC in a lot of cases it auto-accepts. If you want a tool to auto-reject, try Consent-o-matic

Can someone who knows more about AI agents explain this to me?

Axios quotes an Anthropic spokesperson re: the Claude leaks, who says that this new capability is coming: "A "persistent assistant" running in background mode that lets Claude Code keep working even when a user is idle. "

Isn't that what they claim "agents" are doing already? Or am I missing something? I would hate to learn that "agents" are just a marketing term and they don't actually do the thing these companies claim... ;)

The weirdest part to me: this comes after the EU determined that Apple's locked store is too restrictive, and Apple agreed to allow 3rd party stores. Why the hell would Android go in the opposite direction? Will this put them in violation of the same EU regulation?

So for Paramount Plus, guess we have to write in on... Trump letterhead?

AFAIK this is the only evidence: a claim by a marketing company that they're actually doing it. However, they have some reason to lie about this, bc it makes them sound all-knowing and powerful to their clients.

Hey all, I see that there's some dispute in the Vim community over AI, and it led to someone forking the project into Evi.

But I'm not plugged into the community enough to understand what's happened. Can someone fill me in?

Thank you

This weekend, Amazon is premiering its $40 million Melania Trump documentary. It already seems to be a flop.

We're going to add insult to injury by messing up Melania's Amazon search results. Specifically, we're going to amplify the paranormal erotic thriller novel Melania: Devourer of Men so it ranks higher than her movie.

The book is perfect: It's absurd, the cover is ridiculous, and it's free, so we're not giving Amazon any money.

Currently, the book ranks #29 in Amazon search results for Melania. But all the other Melania results seem pretty weak (lol), so we can pull this off pretty easily. We just need people to:

  1. "Buy" the book (it's free)
  2. Share this post and get other people to "buy" the book.

That's it.

(Link is here in case your Lemmy client stripped out the other ones: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HN9XC1H . If it's not free, try buying from Amazon.CA)

Please share! Then we can celebrate as an erotic novel about a bat monster Melania Trump becomes a higher and higher search result on Amazon.

This is an update to this post.

This weekend, Amazon is premiering its $40 million Melania Trump documentary. It's pretty clearly a bribe to the Trump family.

We're going to disrupt the big premiere weekend by messing up Melania's Amazon search results. Specifically, we're going to amplify the paranormal erotic thriller novel Melania: Devourer of Men so it's high in the results. Maybe #1!

After your comments on the last post I reached out to the author, and they agreed to make the book free this weekend.)

Currently, the book ranks #29 in Amazon search results for Melania. But all the other Melania results seem pretty weak (lol), so we could realistically send this high up the charts with a relatively small number of "buys." (Again, It's free.)

If we want to push this book up the charts by Friday, I think we have to start now.

Anything I'm missing?

Not sure what happened, but we're suddenly inundated with compact phones for the first time in years.

Yes, we should take all of these with a grain of salt. Unihertz famously does not support their phones. Click has never made a phone before, though they seem to know what they're doing. And iKKO... well, I'll believe it when I see it.

But the fact that multiple companies are now racing to build smaller phones that AREN'T foldables is SO encouraging. Does it need a keyboard? Who knows! But the market should offer us a variety of form factors instead of just increasingly-larger phablets. It's nice to see things go our way for a change.
