What's the efficiency in taking 30% of almost all game sales on a platform? I know we all love valve, but the efficiency here is having a store that everyone has to use if they want to make sales at all.

Jellyfin is 90% plex, and it's impressive how it comes forward in leaps and bounds, but it's not better than plex. People just appreciate it more.

If you only need that 90% that it does (and don't need things like intro detection, conversions, mobile sync, ass/sas subtitles), then you'll come away super happy with not having to pay plex and not being locked into plex.

It doesn't really do much over that 90%, it's just neat that the 90% isn't plex

Fwiw, this is bigots harassing developers and then posting articles like this, avoiding all the details about their bigotry

Lemmy (and reddit to a degree) is not like other social networks where you are lumped into one giant community. It's many communities, and you'll find that you are welcome in some and not welcome in others. That includes your politics and your views.

I don't think I'd be very welcome in a community of conspiracy nuts, especially when I counter everything they say. I think they would remove me from that community at some point, and that's okay, self policing of communities is okay. Sometimes you aren't welcome.

takedowns are automated these days, either through full automation or paying low cost labor in places like India to just do google searches. Rockstar isn't "doing" anything here, aside from paying someone else to issue the takedowns. and the someone else doesn't know enough or care enough to apply logic that would cause all the other versions to get taken down too.

No? I know the West has a giant boner for China Bad, but so far, tencent has been .... fine. Certainly better than what a lot of American companies have been doing. Hasbro is a good example.

Edit to point out, "Oh good, the vote bots have arrived on lemmy". Wonderful, this will be great for the community 👍

Whoever set that up, it's pointless on lemmy because votes are pointless and you're pathetic

I thought ev batteries had heating and cooling to prevent exactly this? Maybe they couldn't heat enough through the cold to get charging again?

The only difference is the hardware. Intel has their own version that has been in the kernel for a long time. Amd has been struggling with landing the concept.

usually means they’re behaving in a narrow minded, arrogant way

nope not saying that, that's something you made up. I said pc master race weirdness, where everything not pc is described as being inferior to the goal, which is pc only.

this kind of thing kills communities, and breeds the hivemindness you see on reddit. I don't' care about the downvotes because literally they mean nothing on lemmy. I care that this community has drastic shifted to the hivemind circlejerk you find on reddit in the past few weeks/months. And that this is a good example of it playing out.

I know you won't like this and we'll get right back on pressing the angry no button immediately, that's a thing. But I'm hoping the people here can sit back and try to understand that the weirdo reddit stuff, i don't know, do we have to spread it here? it just sucks to see.
