The entire 12 episode run of the Strike Force Five podcast with Kimmel, Colbert, Fallon, Meyers and Oliver.

Might just be the most joyous thing I’ve ever heard.

I’m very anti-lawn and would love replacing it with native wild flowers. We unfortunately don’t own the house, a friend does. I may throw down some clover seed, which uses less water as a small defiant act.

And, yes, our city has the pools, at least a dozen 18 hole golf courses and three day a week watering. Absurd since we’re on the verge of drought every year. Hopefully the powers that be known what they’re doing

Water usage is probably my biggest. Living in a high desert, my wife and MIL see no problem with filling one side of the sink with hot soapy water to wash a few dishes because “that’s just how I’ve always done it”, to watering the grass and plants for hours. All of this makes me mental.

Amaze! I’m super excited to give this a try. If it works as described this will probably do everything I need it to. Thanks!

I have three networked Win10/11 PCs at our small family business that occasionally need to be accessed and maintained from my Fedora PC at home. I’ve used Google Remote Desktop for a while but it’s unreliable and also F Google.

Was looking at the Gl-Inet Comet products which look promising as they say they work without cloud access, but they’re a tad spendy. If it’s the best option I’m willing to drop the coin.

Are there better options?

Thanks!

Edit: Wow, thank you all for so much useful feedback and excellent recommendations! I have lots to dig in to.

No doubt. Between selling the Ridgeline to Carmax for a great price and big incentives from Kia, I was wanting to switch to an EV anyway. The payment is minimal and I was so over buying gas and doing ICE maintenance.

Big mistake was buying over leasing but it wasn’t possible across state lines apparently.

Whew! Just bought my ‘25 EV6 in Jan before this madness kicked off, replacing a 25mpg Honda Ridgeline. No regrets so far, especially being able to charge at home.

It’s not flashy but there’s plenty of great Richard Feynman lectures on yt. No one better at communicating science and math imo.

Swappa. Not refurb necessarily but gently used. I’ve purchased Androids and iPhones from here with good luck. They also recently added Steam Decks, so that’s cool, although the prices seem high.

Didn’t know Project Hail Mary is also an Amazon production. That sucks.

I’ll still see it, probably multiple times, but I’ll grumble silently about it each time I do.

Ron Swanson’s mustache before it was rubbed off… from friction.

This is nuts but Simon Pegg was in my head for some reason. He did a decent American accent in Band of Brothers and has the geekiness and timidity of Ryland Grace imo.

This is exactly my situation as well. I’m actually driving over two hours away to see it in IMAX with them.

The book is great (read it back to back myself) but if you haven’t listened to the audiobook, it’s uh-mazing. The narrator Ray Porter absolutely kills it. Sucks it’s Audible exclusive but worth it.

And, same, I’m cautiously optimistic about the movie as well. Gosling isn’t who I had in my head while reading it but I’m still in line day 1.

I have monthly donations going to my local PBS & NPR stations. Planning to start supporting local independent news orgs and perhaps a few online orgs like The Bulwark.

Hello everyone.

I started my PC for the day and cannot access my LAN and have no internet using the internal NIC on my Asus B550-F motherboard and a separate PCI NIC as well. Booted into a Fedora LiveCD and do have internet on Firefox. The PC was working perfectly last night when I shut it down.

My GL-MT6000 router sees the PC as a wired client and issued its static IP, but I cannot ping the PC from any other computer on the same network.

I'm pretty new to Linux, so I'm not sure what info to supply, but I'm hoping someone can offer a useful suggestion.

Thanks very much!

My last find was in 2016 and I'm looking to get back to it. What equipment and supplies are you taking with you on your adventures? Are you using a standalone GPS or just your phone?

Looking forward to seeing/hearing about your kit.
