the real question I have: is this more than the same rural/city divide

Could be just that. Take a look at the booth breakdown. Almost every booth inside Albury (the largest city in the electorate) went for the independent. The 2nd largest city, Griffith, is the home to the only other booth that went that way. The rest of the mostly-rural electorate went orange.

Welp, time to hoard milk and bread I guess.

I honestly think articles like this are irresponsible reporting because they create panic and invite precisely the kind of hoarding that will make the problem more likely to occur.

I wish he had a proper lawyer.

Yeah seriously. FFS.

Oh, I misread. The headline I read (not this one) said that he was pleading insanity.

Honestly disappointed. I'd have liked to see a straight up "not guilty" plea, and go hard and direct on the constitutional angle. It's pretty obvious that the laws violate the implied right to freedom of political communication. They serve no function but that.

and dint like it because u didnt read the culture tree

That is...more than a little bit reductive.

The game is also downloadable the normal way not just as torrent

Oh cool! Glad to see! 8 months ago either it wasn't an option, or it wasn't presented very prominently.

The “sexism” thing has been fixed, pesants now have random gender

That's ok, but like I said in that thread, the problem isn't really the sexism (that was just an added factor), it was the game design that came with that. The unintuitive way some military units can also do eco work, but some can't, and there's no simple or intuitive way to know which is which.

And as much as I liked the idea of having a trade-off that you have to decide how many and when to send citizen-soldiers to battle vs when to hang back on eco didn't feel good. Maybe with more experience that gets better? But first impressions matter, and it definitely doesn't feel as good as Age.

Command and Conquer Generals 2 is one of the most enduring mysteries of real time strategy. And today, I’m going to share with you what really happened.

The threat of being sued or charged with criminal fraud.

Particularly dangerous in an environment where the courts are in the pocket of fascists.

It's less that there's anything inherent to 0AD I don't like, and more just that it doesn't really do anything well. It's poor enough in terms of UX that it's impossible for me to even evaluate its fundamental game design.

Here's the comment I wrote up after my latest experience.

Is the title's curious parallel to a certain illegal phrase intentional? I can't see what reason it would have for being so, but I equally can't see how such a specific phrasing could have arisen accidentally.

0AD is so much better than AoE

It really, really isn’t. It’s really quite terrible in comparison. I was actually quite saddened, because I first played it like 15 years ago, but then replayed it late last year and was excited to see how much it had progressed, but it still really felt like the early alpha game of my memory.

Not trolling. A genuine Nazi. They support Israel's invasion specifically on the grounds of "lebensraum".

Reminder to everyone that the person No1 is talking to here is a Nazi.

Queensland's Parliament is currently considering a bill which would effectively ban ebikes. They would be unable to go more than 10 km/h on footpaths and shared paths, which make up over 90% of the so-called "bike paths" in Brisbane. It will also force you to have a driver's licence to ride an ebike, ban under-16s from riding them at all, and increase the penalty for riding without a helmet for both ebikes and analogue bikes.

There's also the niche fact that it will require ebikes be compliant with the EN 15194:2017+A1:2023 standard, instead of just the basic EN 15194 standard. This is a specific niche change that means all older ebikes and even most currently-sold ebikes will be non-compliant with the technicalities of the law, even though they fit within the basic premise of being: (a) pedal assist, (b) 250 W maximum, and (c) incapable of going more than 25 km/h with motor assistance. One of the cycling advocates in Brisbane went to a local major bike store and checked their inventory. They only sold one model that complied with this new standard. And it was a child's bike, and thus de facto illegal under these laws regardless, since children cannot ride ebikes.

Next week, Aldi's specials will include a folding ebike. It will almost certainly not be compliant with the 2023 standard.
