To find out the actual current latest stable, just check the site: https://www.debian.org/releases/

The stable distribution contains the latest officially released distribution of Debian.

This is the production release of Debian, the one which we primarily recommend using.

The current stable distribution of Debian is version 13, codenamed trixie. It was initially released as version 13.0 on August 9th, 2025 and its latest update, version 13.4, was released on March 14th, 2026.

30 years and running for me. There's some features that might be fun to have but I won't trade being able to run exactly what I want and nothing more for them.

And it's still one of the biggest and most complete collections of software humankind has seen. Free as in Freedom. With a constitution and a vision. And nothing stops you from adding a container or something if you want something from nix or arch or something.

I have fire alarms in what I consider a sensible arrangement in the separate spaces and rooms where I live, not too close to the kitchen but close enough etc.

I got around to checking them the other day, as one does, and noticed that one of them was very old. They have a limited lifespan, so I thought that needs to be replaced. Others will do for some years.

And then I forgot about it, as one does, until it ran low on battery and reminded me. But now there's a new alarm with a fresh battery up.

I should probably clean the stove hood sometime now that I'm reminded of that as well.
