Oh, and a consistent exercise routine helps a ton too. And so does keeping a consistent sleep schedule. And so does minimizing stress. And minimizing shame regarding your symptoms.

I’m a procrastinator geordi-no

I’m accruing technical debt geordi-yes

No need to self flagellate. It’s not great to get so caught up in petty infighting that you lose sight of actual humanity of the topics you’re talking about. And also, it’s a shitposting forum that doesn’t need to be taken too seriously. Both are true at the same time. I hope you take some time detached from this to collect yourself because it seems you’re overly tuned into this and that’s a hard place to be in.

As an enby who’s played around with both masculine and feminine pronouns on the lemmyverse, there’s a more subtle strain as well. People assuming you don’t know things or explaining things to you excessively. Getting more DMs. And a kind of centering of cis men that still happens even in more feminist and trans-inclusive spaces within threads that cover certain topics.

In turn, a liberal will use it to criticize the same anarchist for opposing NATO

This used to happen to me all the time. I would start talking about imperialism and I’d get called a tankie and told to fuck off. No longer consider myself an anarchist but still.

I believe she was referencing the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. It’s a common talking point to use to equate the Soviets with the Nazis.

Feel free to bait me. Ragebait, clickbait. I’m easily manipulatable

In healing from my own ADHD-related trauma, I’ve learned that “I’m not interested” is often the actual reason and that there are coping strategies for making this the case.

In parenting my ADHD-riddled children, I’ve realized that “I’m not interested” is also not a panacea and sometimes no amount of coping will make you interested in certain things

Seems like there’s one or two multinational corporations at the bottom of the supply chain granting us the ability to manufacture semiconductors. Precision engineering that spits in the face of God. What’s the bus factor on the knowledge required to produce these? Companies forget how to make things they used to know how to make. It happens all the time. What happens when their institutional knowledge decays? We just can’t make the computers that run MRI machines anymore?

I’ve had a similar “DM’s unexamined biases” experience with treating certain races as inherently deserving of slaughter. Like, my first campaign ever was run with a goblin sorcerer who I got really close with. “There’s a war where one side is all goblins” is not a clear cut plot hook to get us to join the opposition by itself.

Fuck me I just wanna talk to someone

I work in a subindustry of healthcare whose end users are all healthcare workers. To be clear, I’m not a healthcare worker. But I’m in a monthly all hands call and they’re currently laying out the amount of AI features they have planned for our platform and it’s monumental. They want AI touching everything.

There’s lots of talk about doctors learning about new innovations via “microcontent”. In other words, there’s a vision of doctors scrolling an AI-filled infinite feed to learn about medical innovations instead of reading full articles. They want to addict doctors to a nerdy Twitter clone so they can show them ads.

I was scrolling Facebook and came across a picture of WWII soldiers captioned something like “Woke leftists on their way to persecute fascists for disagreeing with them”. I’d post the picture but Facebook resets every fucking time I navigate away from it and come back for some reason.

Anyway, this quote was posted at least 3 times in the comments by fascists attempting to “refute” the idea that fighting the Nazis was morally correct:

Gentlemen, I have come this morning to the inexcusable conclusion that we have fought on the wrong side. This entire war we should have fought with the fascists against the communists and not the other way around. I fear that perhaps in fifty years America will pay a dear price and become a land of corruption and removed morals.

General George Patton.

Here’s a Stack Exchange link about the veracity of the quote: https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/36062/did-gen-patton-say-we-defeated-the-wrong-enemy

Apparently there’s no good source for the direct quote but he did agree with the sentiment and was relieved of command for it.

Parentimix goes hard

Mr. Krabs is bothered by the squeaking of the boots and buries them underneath the floorboards. The next day, no one suspects him, but he continues hearing the squeaking everywhere, which drives him mad and causes him to reveal the boots and his guilt.

It seems too much of a coincidence to be an accident. Surely the writers were familiar with the story.

My kid’s been doing art for a while now and is feeling their first plateau of improvement. Anyone have any formal resources online that are free and would be appropriate for them? They’re about 10.

For anyone who doesn’t know, it’s a Dungeons and Dragons narrative-play podcast starring Brennan Lee Mulligan, Erika Ishii, Aabria Iyengar, and Lou Wilson.

I just finished the book 1 finale and none of my ttrpg friends have listened to it yet. I need someone to geek out about this with before I explodeee alphys-anxious

Context:

  1. I am almost 400 lbs
  2. I’m also being tested for sleep apnea
  3. I am diagnosed with binge eating disorder, which I’ve been taking Vyvanse for as well as for my ADHD
  4. I’m on the lowest dose of Zepbound, which will titrate up over time
  5. I’ve been on it a few days
  6. I gained quite a bit of weight after starting a microdose of estrogen, so there’s aspects of that in play as well
  7. I somehow managed to get my insurance to cover it with a copay of $15 for 4 weeks of meds (I went in expecting the price to be a prohibitive barrier and ready to be let down so this was a great surprise)

It’s kind of hard to describe how night-and-day it is. I had to google how quickly the effects happen because I thought I was gaslighting myself. Within hours of my first injection, I went from being unable to feel hunger until I was starving and being unable to feel full until my stomach hurt to being able to stop eating whenever I wanted. I can eat a normal amount of food and feel full. No nausea. No metal taste. None of the side effects that people complain about so far. I still enjoy the food. But for the first time in years I can stop thinking about food and having it invade my sense of free will.

All I can say is that if this is a normal relationship to food, everyone who’s ever implied I just wasn’t trying hard enough can go fuck themselves.

Further context in original post

I understand it’s being misused by people who don’t need it, particularly in the entertainment industry. But I’m almost 400 lbs and my eating is worse than it’s ever been and I’m just in desperate need to rid myself of this obsession with always eating more no matter what. Does anyone here have any experience with it? I’ve heard it just works by making you nauseous but I’ve read elsewhere that that’s just a common side effect. At this point I’m nauseous most of the time anyway.
