I agree. Infinte gulags upon everyone who partakes in it.

Shitty rerun. In WW2, Ukrainian collaborators were deployed to Byelorussia where they participated in some of the worst crimes seen on the already horrific Eastern Front. The Byelorussian SSR lost between 20-30% of its prewar population in only 3 years of occupation.

Its intersection with capitalism is a technofeudalist nightmare that deserves a lot of critique. I am most concerned about the environmental damage, its military, policing and surveillance uses and the pressure it puts on workers in an already hellish economy.

However, it's still a tool and it can have legit applications that genuinely benefit society. I also think that some of the backlash is overblown, especially the sloplist obsession with scanning everything for the faintest trace of AI use regardless of context. Also the clanker shit is just people loudly signaling that they are frothing at the mouth waiting for an opportunity to say a slur and I get unconfortable around these types.

I use it at work (software development) for boring, straightforward busywork, debugging assistance and the like. It's good enough and saves time when used in a context I am already familiar with and I can easily review and verify what it spits out. I also use it at home to help me debug when something goes wrong with my Linux installation and 5 mins of google doesn't cut it.

Venera 13 was just mindblowing. Two full hours of operation in the extreme conditions on Venus. Completely unmatched almost 5 decades later.

I wholeheartedly believe that the Soviet space program was the single greatest achievement of human devopment in history. A backwards nation of illiterate peasants, devastated by WW1. Followed by a long and bloody civil war. Followed by bearing the brunt of the most terrible war ever fought, on its own territory, with the express purpose of commiting genocide on its people. And not only did they survive, they conquered space within like two generations from the end of the civil war.

For me this is the living proof that socialism works and a better future for all humanity is possible.

Colonial terror turning inward as the empire's grip on the world weakens. The Jakarta Method applied to white people on american soil.

This is it. To achieve full nightmare mode, add being neurodivergent and having no idea why your emotionally immature caretaker randomly explodes at you, while any attempt at trying to advocate for yourself or ask for an explanation of what you did wrong is met with increasing hostility. Took many years of my adult life to somewhat fix the crippling social anxiety, while overworking myself into recurrent burnout cycles in order to achieve autonomy from my family no matter the cost. I still have nightmares of being trapped in my childhood home every now and then.

I am sorry that this happened to you comrade. We all deserved much better. Children's rights are such an important part of building a better world and we are seriously lagging behind still treating children like property of their parents and making endless excuses for abusers.

It's extremely sus. The most charitable interpretation requires a hefty dose of political irresponsibilty and complete lack of self awareness and the worst is just straight up nazi shit. And considering the political landscape in Poland, the charitable interpretation becomes less and less likely.

I am so fucking tired of the ancient slavic symbols shtick especially when the symbol in question is of germanic origin and it was found like once in a ditch in silesia and the only people who actually care are the local fascists who want really really hard to be recognized as trve evropean aryans.

Even the Russians aren’t dumb enough

What is the purpose of this comment? I actually stopped to double check the username because this sounded like a lost redditfronter. How do you expect to build a socialist world when you have so much contempt for the rest of the planet? Westerners aren't beating the literally unable to see people outside the imperial core as actual humans allegations anytime soon.

I feel you. The sheer amount of not-even-crypto-anymore-fascism I have to navigate at work just keeps growing. Dudes proudly letting me know they watch Azov combat footage over lunch. Dudes going on a screed about immigrants and how we should take notes from the slightly more openly ethnonationalist country next door. Dudes glazing Milei, holy shit shut up we're on the other side of the world. Dudes joking that I'm listening to ***** music in the morning with the hard R because they heard some hip-hop when I took off my headphones. Dudes being very concerned about the accurate portrayal of eUrOpEaN cUlTuRe in the new odyssey slop (a wholly original opinion they came up with based on their knowledge of Homer who they've totally read). Dudes absolutely do not rock.

Yes, it does get overdiagnosed. Woman with CPTSD? Slap her with borderline. Neurodivergent traits that differ from the male standard presentation? Also borderline. While it is a legitimate disorder that requires psychiatric care, we cannot ignore how the way it is diagnosed harms women, perpetuates harmful gender stereotypes and stigmatizes female specific patterns of reacting to trauma. And outside of actual psychiatric practice, the general public absolutely treats it as the modern day version of hysterical woman syndrome and loves to armchair diagnose women who step out of line with it as a form of social control.

But i understand where the impulse to go Trotskyist comes from. You see that communism is the right way to go but you’ve been told too often that Stalin was evil and that the “Stalinist” socialist system of the eastern bloc was evil, and it’s too difficult to question that consensus and expose yourself to accusations of supporting “authoritarian dictatorships” so you fall back on the old “if only the good communist had taken power instead of the bad one, everything would have been perfect”.

It’s a mix of purity fetishism, being attracted to the failed communists because they never held power so never had to make compromises, and being psychologically unable to let go of and deconstruct anti-communist propaganda because the peer pressure is too great so you find a way to “side-step” it instead, a way to square the circle: “yes those communists were bad, but not us”.

I've had a brief anarcho-communist then trotskyist phase when I first started getting into politics and this was it. I had internalized all the anticommunist propaganda to the point where even considering that Stalin was a normal human being whose decisions can be analyzed in a historical context instead of a mythical demon was unthinkable. What got me out of that trap was reading theory and studying the history of the 20th century with an anti-fascist mindset.

Once you break free from these anticommunist brainworms, all the scary shame inducing words liberals throw around like tankie, stalinist, authoritarian, etc are ultimately just a modernized accusation of witchcraft. If the label does not scare you, it quickly becomes obvious that the people weaponizing it have no actual arguments apart from the social pressure to confirm to the officially approved worldview.
