This is why, as an Aussie, I'm very disappointed in our subservience to the US all the time. It's honestly pathetic. We abandoned our initial plan for, admittedly not cutting edge tech, french-built submarines to go with far better-specced US-built subs but who knows if we'll ever actually get any of them.

Honestly, I don't trust the sepos not to hamstring them somehow.

A decade? I had a Windows ME upgrade disc - M$ has been at this for a long time.

It's funny. As much as I detest DJT and all the terrible things he's brought to the world order/markets/general stability, I do have to be thankful that he's helped spur on digital sovereignty and sparked a revival in independence rather than US hegemony. It's also a shame, but the US has proved itself too volatile and an unstable partner.

Whilst I agree, and capitalism sucks, I will give it credit for one thing. The build up of trade between nation states has helped reduce wars between trading partners as trade is a major part of capital.

But I also work for a government (non-US) so not exactly flying a capitalistic flag

Die from a treatable but financially crippling disease that would have been covered by a public health system anywhere else.

Women have to protect themselves from weirdos somehow.

Jefferies and Schumer.

It should be pointed out that it's not like a parliamentary opposition as seen in many other democracies with political discourse over a dispatch box with the leader of parliament.

Bibi undermining ceasefires? Guaranteed.

This is a good time to remember:

If it bites you and you die; venomous
If you bite it and you die; poisonous

Huzzah! Can't wait. I've never liked the idea of eating brains, now it'll be my favourite meal

Those parts might be centred around your family kitchen, much like the northern lights

I just looked at her. She started raising her voice and insisting she meant that the government should think about the amount of houses that can be built to accommodate all the newcomers.

I just looked at her - she got angry as I was looking at her, and she could see I was visibly intrigued I (which she saw as threatening). She raised her voice further and wondered why I'm looking at her like that. I mentioned "so you're blaming the government for letting too many people in". She got angry with me and said it "wasn't about blame". I didn't mention the whole "got mine" attitude.

Eventually she took her pillow, called me an arsehole who cares too much about racism and went to sleep with our mixed-race children.

Funnily enough, we'd just been watching "The Knick" and I had mentioned how many don't realise their privilege. This was how she responded. I'm concerned. I'm not saying she's racist, not at all. Just naive or blind and ignorant. Yet she got angry with me for "not accepting" racism.

I should mention she got angry at me recently for not liking the direction the UK was heading and really not wanting to visit because of it (both our families live there - mine are "brown" lol.

I think it proved my point about privilege but I didn't want it to end that way but she stormed off. So AITA?

Edit: Australia btw

The next version of an international council needs actual authoritative power. There's no point if someone just decides they don't want to listen and will do whatever they want. Veto power should be curtailed if a supermajority of countries are in agreement otherwise a bad actor will push their weight around.

Why should this latest offer be accepted when it will still leave SA behind other states? Not to mention that other states are also advocating for higher pay? Union is not fighting for the people on this one, this is laughable.

Who are the analogues of Röhm and Himmler? And who do you think will come out on top?

Edit: initially said Border Force instead of Border Patrol

The amount of time it's been since my wife has gone through some of her old work notes that she has made me cart around the world, around two different countries and in the garage of 6 different houses.

Finally told her that that's it and I'm chucking it all away. She was fine with that.
