My lovely cat is a senior citizen. She doesn't really like to play with her toys or chase things as much these days (she's on anti-seizure meds that make her a little unsteady which I think have made her play less enjoyable for her) so she spends a lot of her time looking out/sleeping in front of windows. But, whenever she realizes I'm about to nap, she gets super excited, jumps on the bed, yowls until everything is juuuuuuuust right (her soft blanket on top of mine but perfectly flat etc) but once we're both lying down, she starts purring the with the fury of a thousand rusty chainsaws, regardless of whether she's getting skritched. More so if she can get one of my arms working as a pillow.

So, even while her former favourite activities are falling off, we're both finding weird moments of happy while I try to avoid thinking about the inevitable. And there's something just so wonderful about hearing how aggressively happy she is just to hang out nearby for an extended period of time.

Don't really have a point but we woke up from a nap and I wanted to share.

Or, they only collect the dead ones from the surface. There's probably a veritable mountain of lifejacketless corpses on the silt.

Meta is one of the highest performing American stocks and 98% of their revenue is advertising. Make it harder and strike a blow for Canada!

The guide is easy enough that parents, grandparents and other non tech types should be fine with it.

I'd never known this was a thing I could do! I'll have to look into this as I have a good few comfy warm socks that could use repairing!

Reality: On 4 February 1938 a wave of strikes began by dock workers in Hawaii demanding equal pay with dockers on the West Coast of the United States, and a union shop. The strike ended with police shooting 50 unarmed workers in the Hilo massacre. This is a history of the events: https://libcom.org/history/hilo-massacre-1938

Oh man, Asians hate so many other Asians so ferverently it's impressive. I knew a Japanese girl whose mom threatened to disown her if she dated any "Chinese hell bastards" (which was in fact, every Chinese person.)

There's no wrong time; role play, dirty talk or aesthetic comparisons!

People also love surprises. These two bits of social insight can be combined to great effect.

This is her posing for a recreation of her swearing in.

In 1968, Shirley Chisholm became the first Black woman elected to Congress. In 1972 she became the first Black candidate to run for a major party's nomination for president (and the first woman to run for the Democratic nomination.)

While she struggled to be taken seriously by the Democratic establishment, she had no illusions about her presidential run but said she did it "in spite of hopeless odds... to demonstrate the sheer will and refusal to accept the status quo."

Taxing a guy who saves the world on a regular basis seems rude.

This is what I always find amusing about the Communist argument.

Like, the elected politicians and bureaucracy can't be trusted enough to regulate industry under capitalism so we'll centralize things and then trust them to regulate industry under Communism?

Edit: whoof, should've thought about human nature when I dared to criticize communism. Almost lime there is another lesson somehwere there.

so, it's the goddamn weekend. How does everyone have so much free time this late on a Saturday? I'll do my best to get back to y'all on a dirty capitalist's time slot.

This is mind bogglingly dumb. You should hear what trump et al are talking about re: Israel.

This both sides nonsense is childish at best and demonstrates an utter lack of understanding or perhaps willfull ignorance.

Or, given your absurd postinf history, a group of folks as part of a larger operation to sow distrust in democratic institutions etc. The dumber stuff I see from you the more I lean to the latter.

I think the "oh, fuck, that was an invitation!" moment several minutes/hours after the fact is one of the most universal moments.

could reply that eating food falls well within a communist system, therefore you can't blame communism for famines.

Try again when you're sober, that's not a particular cogent argument.

A carbon tax falls well within a capitalist system (much the same as any other tax or method of dealing with externalities) so I'd put that as a failure of democratic systems more than anything.

I'm also not convinced communism would actually solve the problem. Communists have historically been pretty reluctant to share bad news, from letting folks know about mass starvations to, oh, most of the world news in China.

Yeah but deciding not to vote for Biden just feels like a good trendy way to express my sympathies with Palestineans... /s
