This is not a facetious question. I know I can technically ask AI but i don't think this is a simple answer TBH, as I am confused about process, and I do not know enough about US politics.

All my life when observing US politics (which I don't really do for fun) there has generally been a very visible opposition leader, you know their name their stance etc. It's the same for most major powers. But for the USA I simply do not know anymore. I get the jist there is only 2 parties but the democratic party seems like its just disappeared. Previously there was news of candidates etc but that's just gone.

What is happening? and who is the leader of the opposition now?

I am not looking for a bunch of FTrump answers, it would be great to have a discussion that's rational and not about him.

As above switched to Linux and i am enjoying it i picked Ubuntu as TBH it was the first I came across. The last two times it has prompted me to update has caused a drama. First would only give me a black screen of text so I did a reinstall.

The latest one went fine it updated to 6.17.0-94 but i lost all networking no wifi By the looks of it the problem I have is i have an older device that has nvidia 580 graphics card. I have rolled back for now but questions are;

Is there a way to pre-emt this, as i feel now as soon as i restart it will jump back up and leave me without networking to resolve. its quite a faff trying to find out what to do on my mobile and typing it in the terminal.

Is it better to fix or try another distro?

Inspired by a few other posts and memes flying about. When I was young movies and tbh real life you would come across old people telling you that can’t trust the gov. To keep your cash at home etc. tell em nothing.

I am feeling it. I always assumed maybe about 60 it will happen to me. I kinda linked it to idle minds or a cognitive decline but lack of trust for me has arrived a lot earlier and I think I can rationalise to myself it’s more based on the gov actions rather than my circumstances.

So wha do you think in the magic age number that trust in the gov erodes? I’ll start. 42.

Trying to cut down on my social media so going back to rss. I prefer web-based to self hosting and i am looking for an EU/UK/Canadian/Aus option.

What ya got peeps?

Hi all i am new to self hosting, I have everything just about set up. I am on linux server (docker host). I am good with movies/tv VPN Jellyfin etc. For music I have llidar and slskd setup and both running. I have tinkered Wireguard and Finamp and had it working.

So i have these 2 problem/s I could do with some advice/opinions on if you guys would be lovely enough to help.

1. I am currently using SLSKD more as I like partial albums. I then do a manual import via Wanted...this is cumbersome as i have to then add the artist etc in lidar, then go import the tunes.

2. I have a ton of old spotify playlists for example 80s etc. I would like to be able to bring them in and automate it somehow rather than finding them one song at a time.

I hate AI but its somewhat helpful in these situations. It suggested adding soulmate (docker) that has been slightly problematic, i also saw tubifarry and another plugin.

What are your suggestions of a route to take for my problems...should i faff about further with soulmate or another option? Nice to meet you all 🙂

I try to buy based on reviews. Not insta influence or amazon reviews. I like to hear real people’s opinions, and one that isn’t being paid for. And it needs to be something I can purchase local.

So I was thinking maybe we could pick some products maybe common stuff, hot items etc and maybe all chirp in.

It could be from reviewing tomato sauce from supermarket to supermarket, or let’s compare cardboard cutters.
