While I still don't know what that thing is, this is much better. The edit makes it look like some VR headset holder or something.

Yeah, thats exactly what i want to avoid, things that are good enough that even without being addictive, i want them. I wont even grow poppies for poppy tea because I’m afraid i will become low-grade addicted to it as a result of simply not being in constant pain for a change (fucked up thing to consider, but true as someone with chronic pain). My mom made me promise to keep her oxy after she passed because it was much harder for me to get pain treatment than it should be, but it just made me throw up (same it did to her, but we assumed it was the cancer), so i gave it to a friend who needed it. I know myself and i -really- like escape. It used to be books, as a kid, but now its all sorts of things. Because i can.

Mostly i want things with low addiction (physical or psychological) risk, ideally also somewhat beneficial, and no or very low chance of bad experience, because my brain does that anyway. Also kinda has to be fairly easy to get without a shady middle-man, because i don’t know people and buying shit on tor isn't appealing to me at all. The hardest thing I've done was extacy cut with meth, and i listened to my druggy ex and boofed it (our slang for bum-hole administration, tho i learned later i should have shoved it in my vagina instead, thats way way better for drug absorption due to the sheer quantity of blood vessels and the moist environment, to the point that it used to he a common medical application in hospital). Honestly, i loved it, and would exist that way forever if i could. And thats the problem. I’m glad i don't have easy access to it now. Id like to use it again in controlled therapy settings, as long as they’ve got some good beats and highlighters on hand. But as a result of using it, techno gives me anxiety now. Used to really love it. So even in mild ways the best of things can fuck with you.

I don't really struggle with drugs other than alcohol (and thats a weird one because i just fall out of use, same as weed, after months or years of heavy use), but thats mostly because i don't use anything else particularly addictive because i don't trust myself. Actually, because i know what I’d do. I seem to fall out of alcohol use when my mental state improves to the point i don't need a crutch. But until then, its bad. Ngl. And weed just stops being fun periodically, so sometimes i take years-long breaks even though it’s good for my pain.

Im super interested in drugs, though. Like genuinely id love to try them all with no risk. I used to read bluelight just to imagine how it felt. I want VR to work for me because that feels like a mild trip (makes me hella nauseated, so no dice until holodeck exists). If i ever go terminal, or get old enough to not care how much i fuck up my future, ill be doing all the drugs.

Im glad you've come out the other end of it reasonably intact, sounds like :) And thank you for sharing your experiences with me, for my edification :) i genuinely appreciate it. If you want to share more, even about other substances, id be interested in reading it, to live vicariously through you :)

Im going to save this but it sounds like those aren't just various strains of mushies? and idk if id go out of my way to obtain drugs i cant cultivate myself. I like the idea of mushrooms and i have spores and stuff, just not motivated to grow a new batch.

Ive seen extracts of mushies, called “crystals of the gods” which is a dumb name but the only extraction method ive found, and thats what I want to try, because its supposed to completely get rid of the body problems associated with it, though not the enhancement of your natural mood (in my case mostly anxiety)

Im kinda afraid of human-made or refined drugs, tbh. What if i like them?

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 days ago (6 children)

Solid, I’ll keep that in mind, thanks!

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 days ago (9 children)

I’ve never done acid but I did shrooms twice and haven't had the balls to try again.

The first time was ok, but the second time, come-up anxiety was so intense I spent the entire trip throwing up, shitting my brains out, and having a panic attack. I can’t do that again, but I’m still full of anxiety, so.. nope.

Someday id like to try an extract, I’ve heard the mushroom itself is where the anxiety and gastric discomfort comes from, but yeah I’m just not really motivated in case thats wrong.

Floors I can see through (metal mesh, drainage grates, thick glass, etc.)

I struggle to walk across it, even when it can hold literal cars.

Idk too many people who can read the art of war in under an hour, either :p

Name of the guy leads to name of the sister which could lead to name of the ship she’s deploying with making it clear that ship and its entire compliment will be around. Maybe that’s not the guys name, but with opsec like that there’s a solid chance it’s pretty easy to find out.

It doesn’t have to be a lot of information to you for it to be a lot of information to the intelligence wing of some other country.

It’s about the specifics, not the generalities.

My current cats are Tiabeanie and Rayla.

Tiabeanie is known as bean, bean sprout, sprout town, bean town, beanie baby, beanie butt, baby butt, sproutsalot, lil booger bean, tiny butt, and lady meows.

Rayla is known as Ray-bay (used to be “Ray-be” like baby, but it sounds like rabies), Rayla banana, banana, bananajam, stinky butt, and various other things when she’s annoying which is an absolute ton. I wouldn’t say banana is in any way related to Rayla name-wise, I started using it as a joke “because banana rhymes with Rayla!” (It doesn’t at all, for you ESL folks)

I used that “not a real person” face generation site to create a photo to sign up for the sake of curiosity and to see what the services were like in case I wanted to sign up for one for like friend matchmaking or whatever (not to catfish or anything, just don’t want my face all up in there), but after uploading the photo, then it started asking for an absolute gob of personal data and I noped out. Not worth it.

I have a migraine and daily headache condition and one of the side effects is a changing assortment of hallucinations. It’s nothing to worry about, we keep track of them as part of my treatment and do periodic MRIs just to be sure when the hallucinations change..

But they are pretty damned normal, even outside of having a condition that impacts your brain, and most people don’t really understand that, and keep it to themselves if it happens to them, so I figured it’s worth asking.

Without drugs being involved, have you had hallucinations? Not just sounds or visions, but smells or touch or proprioception (body position) hallucinations? Those are far more common and much less talked about than hearing voices. Do you know what caused them, if you had them, or was it an alarming experience?

My biggest one is that chicken usually smells like peanut butter. I hate peanut, and actively avoid anywhere that uses peanut oil, and yet chicken still smells and tastes like it’s cooked in peanut flavoring. Awful hallucination.

Recently I’ve had some other olfactory (smell) hallucinations, lavender, sage, etc. sometimes a mild burning smell which is alarming because that’s associated with other issues like stroke. Have also had some audio hallucinations, the sort of thing I pause whatever’s playing to see if I’m imagining it. No big deal, because I’m aware of it happening.

I’ve recently fallen down a rabbit hole of fake video games. Not fake like fraud, but fake like art; games that don’t exist to play, but do exist to tell their stories. I’m super into it but finding more is kinda difficult, so here we are!

What fake games do you like? Why do you like them? Pictures, links, videos, whatever.

I really enjoyed Petscop (video 1/25 linked) and Valle Verde (video 1 linked, Spanish with subtitles), both series are let’s play style, exploring fake games to tell their stories. Petscop is much more narratively involved, and tells a great story (you’ll probably want an explainer video afterwards.. it’s involved) while Valle Verde is more ghost-in-the-machine horror.

I found this rabbit hole through this video, from Super Eyepatch Wolf about fake video games, why they are made and how they “work” as an art form. Their content is weirdly enjoyable to me, and pleasingly entirely too long. Plus they have their own fake video game.

Edit for clarity: Fake video games is a super broad category. Pictures with gameplay hud that implies a video game, videos of gameplay or cutscenes styled after games count (even those weird live action “games” people record for TikTok count), books or stories that describe gameplay for games that don’t exist count, even soundtracks modeled after game sound tracks count. So if it’s a game or part of a game that doesn’t exist, it counts!

I love other Ava Max and just found this one and it resonates so enjoy friends!

Ultra-upbeat pro-feminist reality in dance music format! If you like this check out sweet but physcho, kings and queens, and not your Barbie girl!

Sleeps 16! Newly renovated! 6,000+ sqft! Indoor pool in your very own gymnasium building! Apparently great for doomsday preppers for some reason! What’s not to love?

Ok so I don’t love whatever this thing is. It gives me creepy basement entrance vibes that don’t fit.

I like ceiling elephant if stuff has to be there at all, but the rest of the cave drawings…

(You may recognize this house from a comment on my prior post, cuz I wasn’t really thinking about posting this one separately, but hey might as well liven the place up)

This whole house is painted seafoam green inside. Whole thing. And it does not have electricity, so you get natural seafoam green light, and either darkness or a fire hazard. What a gem!

Kitchen? Yep.

Living room? Yep.

Bathroom? Absolutely!

Wonder why it’s been available for 846 days 🧐🤔

Greetings! I’m new here!

I just got notice from the city that a chicken license (one of 10 for a town of 15,000 people) came up and I’m first on the waiting list! So exciting! Please excuse the excited tangents.

We had chickens when I was 8-14, so I have a rough idea of the care involved, and am not overly concerned about the long-term maintenance. Since that was like 20+ years ago, however, I’ve been doing a lot of looking, just to brush up. Ultimately tho they have been kept for most of human history so I’m sure I can manage. :)

However, my experience, and most resources, are for larger flocks than I’m allowed, as well as more… comfortable climates.. so I’m here to ask some questions and learn.

This question is about the coop, because the run and access to various things is pretty well handled, but building it right is going to be important. I’d really rather not wake up after a snowstorm to clucksicles.

The location for it is going to be next to the garage, on the northeast side near the back, close to the warehouse behind me, and my house shadow falls there in the morning, garage afternoon, so the coop itself will be blocked from direct sun year round (there’s nowhere I can put it in the sun and be compliant with city regulations). They will have a huge run in full sun, however, and this location, coupled with the warehouse behind my property, is an effective wind block for the direction wind usually comes from.

I live in usda hardiness zone 4 (coldest temp between -20 and -30 f (-28 to -34 c)), and will be choosing a breed with that in mind, but I want to provide them with a really good shelter, too. I don’t want to use a heat source, so I’ll be insulating it quite heavily, but since I’ll be hatching them myself and interacting with them heavily, I’m not opposed to bringing them into the basement if the weather is looking really bad.

So my question given that I can have up to 6 (so I’ll have 6) and it gets really cold sometimes is this: should I build a full size coop I can walk in, so that if it’s amazingly cold they can comfortably exist inside for however long they want? Or should I build a smaller elevated coop with space under it for them to use, so they have a smaller space to warm up with body heat? Can they be trained to use doggy doors?
