Dems top policy needs to be funding social services and adding healthcare to it. I want to see my tax money actually do good things for people in this country. Not do bad things to people in other countries.

Is this dystopian game something I can afford with my savings from not paying union dues?

Same book described farmers letting good food rot because they needed to raise prices. If they gave the food away it would drop prices lower than they already were.

Like you said, banks would take people's homes and abandon them because they didn't want to set the standard that you could take loans out and not pay them.

Over 100 years ago the Great Depression proved without a doubt that capitalism is a garbage system and the only safety net it has is tax payer money.

If a bank that's "too big to fail" and they're on a downhill path, why waste resources trying to dig themselves out when they know they'll get a fat paycheck from the people.

It's insane to me that there's middle/lower class people that defend this shit.

What's more believable? That unicorns are fictional? Or giraffes?

I have no idea what you're talking about, we all pay full price.

You can list all of those things in a resume, besides maybe the traveling.

That's true, but from what I remember, half the class was either goofing off, sleeping, or straight up not there. Education as a whole isn't valued in the US anymore. Students/parents blame teachers when their kid doesn't magically absorb the information without doing any of the work or studying. Trade schools are becoming more popular because of the costs of college, but deep down, they think it's an easy way to make good money. Those trades require hard work as well. Cost of college is most definitely contributed to the overall lack of education but that's not causing the average US high schooler to have a reading level of a 5th grader in the UK.

I'm basically in the same boat as OP except opposite job direction (went from labor to desk). Over a decade of manual labor with no scheduled lunch breaks has left me with poor eating habits. I tried meal prepping but ended up doing what your friend was doing, loading up on fruits and vegetables with some protein. Wouldn't eating stuff like buttered potatoes and drinking a couple glasses of milk everyday lead to heart problems? Or would cardio and being underweight basically cancel that out?

I never used Twitter. Reddit was the only social media I engaged/posted on for years, moved to Lemmy a couple months ago. I made an account on Mastodon, downloaded moshidon, followed a bunch of hashtags, now I don't know what to do. Do I just start posting "Facebook status" type posts? Is Mastodon basically like individual Lemmy comment threads with hashtags being the main post?

Now I know how my parents feel when I try to explain anything outside of Facebook to them.
