The way I've felt the last couple of days I wouldn't be surprised if I had one of them mild strains of covid. I doubt I'll feel better in time for this conference I was planning to go to on Tuesday
:( Take care of yourself tom.
What's the conf? Anything exciting, or work required?

Dunno the real name. Sticky beef: honey, chilli, orange peel, star anise ๐ป
Most exciting UFC card in ages today. Main event at 2pm, we have Dricus Du Plessis, South African champion who is on an 11 fight win streak - undefeated in the UFC, up against Khamzat Chimaev - undefeated Chechnyan fighter. Chimaev is a dominant wrestler who has looked absolutely unstoppable in his rise to title contention, he is a favourite to win. Du Plessis though is a physical specimen, who sometimes looks a little uncoordinated and goofy almost, but also always finds a way to get it done. Very exciting fight
Time to fire up Kodi and my debrid account
I have completed my daily Squaredle and am now ready for the day. If all goes to plan today is the day I will get my tax return done.
One thing I think I need to add to my list of Annual Tasks is descaling the kettle with citric acid then pouring the contents down the toilet. I think I'll need drain cleaner to clear this thing out. Maybe a regular pouring of boiling water full of acid will get ahead of these blockages
Vinegar also works and I find the cleanup easier. There are descaling chemicals available at Colesworth for use in coffee machines etc. and these are frighteningly effective when used properly.
can also use vinegar at a half/half ratio and boil as well. Drop some bicarb down the kitchen sink, then follow with the mix, it'll boil out the drains
I use cream of tartar.
I went to the opera last night, just bought a cheap ticket at the last minute. Opera Victoria doing Mozart's Abduction.
I am not a remotely knowledgeable opera-goer but I was not expecting it to be set at a hedonistic sex club, complete with gimp masks. And it was very funny. 5/5 whips and chains.
Lol
Er, is there a non hedonistic type of sex club?
Probs not my area expertise I have to say.
a dilettante, eh
We can't have amateurs around here!
sounds like fun
um yeah, isn't the full title Abduction from the Seraglio? It's right there in the title.
I'm not sure why people think opera is stuffy and pretentious. They do that sort of stuff a lot. I've been to a couple with full frontal nudity, and one that had a giant inflatable person they were giving an enema to (I can't remember which one or what the context was, but that bit definitely stood out!)
giant inflatable person they were giving an enema to
I've never been to the opera but I might now.
were they doing Leck mich im Arsch?
I have a similar option of Shakespeare. It's not difficult poncy nonsense for torturing high schoolers, it's utter filth and fart jokes!
fights and murder too
Apparently I have too many bank accounts, ATO can only manage 20.
Edit: Tax return has now been completed (despite the annoyance of having to look up my interest manually because all the pre-fill data didn't fit). Now I just need to sit back and wait for the sweet, sweet tax return money.
You have more than 20 bank accounts??
If they're gonna offer an extra 1% interest for the first four months, every four months I'm opening a new account. I've had to deal with the fraud department a few times as I roll my house deposit around the place to maximise my interest.
Yes. Most of them are with Macquarie that give you the full high interest on all the savings accounts and you can make transactions directly to/from them, so I have multiple accounts set up to use as my budgeting buckets. I have automatic payments come out of each pay, then I just spend money from the appropriate account to keep track of spending instead of having to record anything seperately.
I've also got some savings with other banks, partly to get a little bit higher interest and partly so I've still got access to funds if there is a computer problem.
yah, I have a few with Bank Aust. There's the one linked to my card, personal savings, the bill kitty, the cat emergencies fund, the rates kitty, the car kitty, the house reno kitty which gets an extra interest bonus with a min 100 deposit and no withdrawls per month.
We both chuck X amount into each one every pay and then we don't ever have to worry about being short for something.
Make that 13 hours of sleep lol
Fuck I needed that. Honestly could sleep another 3 or 4 hours
That's awesome ๐
The bangers and mash with onion gravy was a fine meal. I tried this gravy recipe:
https://www.daringgourmet.com/onion-gravy/
I had not made onion gravy before and used this recipe as a good starting point.
Some slight changes I made was using flour in the beginning instead of cornstarch at the end, as a thickener. I use a bit of brown sugar coupled with brown vinegar to kickstart carmelised onionโs cook time and finally, I ended up purรฉe ing it for a smooth texture.
onion gravy is the best gravy, I love that stuff ๐คค
brr, it's a cold morning
mmmm coffee, footy show on, foot up and will be rebandahing soon.
Seems like the best option was to get some dressing and tape it to my toe for compact cushioning and protection.
And hooray for delivery services, packing coming today and I donโt have to go out.
Chili bread is mixed and rising, got a load of ironing and sewing ready to do, a pile of cds to play, some telly to watch, some admin to admin
and resting my back
a kinda busy but restful day ๐
Did my lower back yesterday, nothing more humbling than when your back goes out in a bad way. Getting out of bed this morning was not fun at all. I can barely move around.
Not going to be able to do any of the things I planned today, just resting up until I can see a physio tomorrow.
Thatโs not good, you take care. Surprisingly pain and soreness will stop you from doing a lot and more than you expected.
Get some ice on it if you can.
yes, just rest, take some pain meds, watch telly or read or anything that will help you relax
Last cup of tea then onto the next wall panel in the basement. Lead paint BEGONE
