I can say that the protests in the US are finally getting slightly less milquetoast.
"We demand Peter Thiel to resign as a first step!"
"Murderers!"
"Move! Out of the way! Let us through!"

I really wish they didn't give this thing a LotR name (Palantir), Tolkien would've hated it.
I was recently reading that hard core right and Sociopathic Oligarchs all have a real weird thing for LotR. They give Tolkien names to lots of stuff. The article was very vague about why there is a connection ( I got the feeling that they really didn't know why it resonates with them), but it is there.

I remember reading that Tolkien wrote a letter or whatever lamenting that those kind of people liked his books.
It makes no sense because Tolkien wouldn't have agreed with most of them and would've despised how they use his legacy. I don't think these people understood the message the books were trying to send.

At the protests? Surely the Palantir precog crime prevention analysts submerged in the cellar should have know this future crime was about to happen, well before the protest.
They probably knew.. But the prison/military industrial complex incentivizes crime, as it perpetuates poverty. And more poverty means more people arewilling to work for less money. Cheaper labor equals higher profits.
So basically, capitalism goes brrrr.

What are the rights around protesting in America? Is it legal for you to be arrested like this?
I don't understand why people are protesting. If you entered the country illegally, why are you surprised that they're kicking you out? In some countries, the punishment is far worse, but in the U.S., they just deport you and send you back to your home country. To me, that seems like a good deal. Many immigrants did it the right way, so it's not fair for those who didn't to get away with illegally entering the country. Palantir is a terrible company, though.
