Never underestimate the power of ”protecting the children”. We are still fighting against Palantir and ChatControl 2.0 despite it getting constantly voted down, they are finding loopholes and dirty tricks to bring it closer and closer. They really want to feed all our chat data to Europol crimeAI. It’s been going on for years now and that came about through lobbying reasonably sane (but clueless) politicians with ”think of the children”.

This is a disturbing warning from Kim Dotcom
It's disturbing anyone should be listening to this fraud of a man. Receipts first. Then we can listen.
90% light tech entertainment, 10% educational. Youtube tech review channels have limited usefulness outside those few moments you need to make a new purchase but sometimes you might discover or learn something new, but it's mostly just constant roll of advertisements of new tech gadgets, basic tech advice for the uneducated masses, benchmarks and other such things that don't really matter much and to be honest, most of the content comes out looking and sounding the same - and rather corporate.
But I guess that's what happens to all big media outlets eventually.
The WAN show (current tech-afftairs podcast) is the only "half-serious" thing that's worth a listen imho.
Been using Ente for a long time. +1, they are excellent!
Or fire them. I think either one works for them.
Of course he would say that. But are there any actual productivity gains in the first place or is he just cosplaying. Most of the data right now seems to indicate the perceived velocity gains in lines written/PRs submitted are actually just unnecessary code churn. The time gained from coding is spent in reviewing instead.
But maybe Meta doesn’t do that. They probably don’t.
Well Revolut is garbage company so nothing of value will be lost
in Linux is under discussion
Are you referring to LKML discussion? Or some other metaphysical discussion we should be aware of? Yes. Linus replied in the thread.
It's not really very surprising point of view.
It would be funny if only 15 year olds were allowed on social media. We should let that go for couple of months, just so we can watch the world burn.
Ok now ban it for everyone over 15 as well and we're good
Yeah, Mozilla Org is the non-profit and Mozilla Corp is the for-profit that develops Firefox and gives their CEO's million dollar golden parachutes. Unfortunately these days even the org is overrun with AI bros.
And anyone who actually has tried to use AI to do anything serious, knows it doesn’t work as a worker replacement. It can (possibly) make some of your engineers more effective but it can’t replace them. That’s just a fever dream.
Maybe a chatbot on your webpage can save some first line support costs, but it will more likely expose you to data leaks and anger your customers because no one wants to interact with it.
The usecases are narrow and none of them include ”getting rid of people” or ”lowering salaries”. It’s the other way around. AI implementation is a risk with lot of investment and (at the moment) dubious ROI.
