For me its more like that bit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail where the soldier seems miles away as he charges the castle, until a random moment where he's right on top of them.

This is my favorite underrated scene in the movie. It lands for me every time.

Executive dysfunction might be more recognized in some cultures than others, but it's for sure not a PURELY "cultural phenomenon".

Culturally endemic pathology, then. Not all mold is on terf island, but everywhere on terf island is mold.
