More enshittification of what was once one of the best sites on the innertubes. I have been a member for 14 years after a few years of just lurking. Got permanently banned a couple of weeks ago for Dog knows what! Thought about appealing for 10 seconds and realized they did me a favor. The IPO was their fucking downfall. Good riddance to the bot farm.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
There are many subs that are downright unusable now. Some are so insanely rightwing I don't know if this is actually what society is like or whether these are all bots stirring shit up and masturbating each other
Users: Bring back r/all and 3rd party apps!
reddit "leadership": Sorry, best we can do is a new dumpster fire of a feed that everybody hates.
Still they needed to do was roll back to 2010 Reddit and they'd be good again. But that's ok, we have Lemmy now. Let Reddit rot.
Don't worry they'll just add more bots to fake upvotes and engagement.
Slow walking the transformation of a discussion forum into a propaganda machine...
and man is it enshitified
By design. It’s to increase engagement and promote propaganda.
They got rid of r/all, then ruined the rest of the sort algorithms, now it's just "Popular", "News", and "Latest" and it's just ass, old posts, tons of reposts, almost no local/state/country subs, just horrible compared to how the site used to work.
Also the timing of killing r/all right before the midterms is pretty interesting, all these tech bro fuckers are trying to control and manipulate the world and nobody is doing anything about it.
Maybe its not a lot but i thought we here where doing at least something by moving to a decentralised platform?
Who is even supposed to be the knight to kill the tech industry dragon? Our leaders love the dragon.
It's insane watching all these layoffs happening and thinking "well if this happened in the early 90's or early 2000's surely someone would spin up a new business to compete with their old company" but who has the money? What if President dickhead and his merry band of racist pieces of shit won't let them have a business license or other things they need? People are straight up being iced out of our upward mobility while corruption and nepotism are taking over.
All in all it leads me to feel like the only people who are going to save us from them is someone choosing decisive actions, and sooner than later, but then what? Because there will be major fallout.
Hopefully Brazil and other nations impacted bring some of this to heel, but most likely Big Tech will ignore them until there's a change in leadership in the US, one that will hold them accountable, but we'll see if we fumble the midterms.
Even if we don't fumble midterms Trump said he was going to set fire on shit if they lose, so it's not like it's going to be just fine then.
I'm glad someone else is paying attention, I don't know how we on the Left haven't gotten plans together for their next Jan 6 like attempt, or far worse.
I swear everyday is like living in the flashbacks leading up to the formation of the Republic of Gilead in the Handmaid's Tale show, and as a dad and grandfather to a whole bunch of daughters and granddaughters it's really worrisome, especially since I'm no longer the able-bodied man I used to be.
I have my plans together.
Talk to your friends, tell them they're pos if they still like the pedophile, you're a old man they'll listen to you. Not me or any other woman.
Aaron Swartz must be rolling in his grave.
Yup that's what made me leave.
If I hadn't left already, this would have been non-negotiable. Even twitter allows you to only see posts by the people you follow.
