Yes? The eager agent with their hand raised. Or do you need to go to the bathroom?

Smash burgers are all the same. Crisp edges and juicy center. The only thing I’m asking is what cheese.

[–] ThunderComplex@lemmy.today 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Me asking what cheese everyone wants before slapping kraft singles on all of them

[–] fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Which is the correct answer. Maybe not Kraft but certainly American cheese.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

'american cheese' is fine. it's what most fast food joints and many restaurants use.

it's the individually-wrapped 'singles' that is the abomination.

they are two distinctly different products.

As I understand it, it’s cheese melted with an emulsifying salt to make it able to be served hot without turning into a pile of curd and grease. I’d prefer real cheese like cheddar, but will admit that American cheese was made for the job.

[–] cloudshouter@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

I default to smoked Gouda.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not how much cheese? what if I want mine drowned in blue cheese?

[–] cloudshouter@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

I’m very accommodating

They should all be 165° for food safety’s sake when it comes to ground beef. You can play around with a steak’s temperature becuause any bacteria are on the surface and not ground into the meat, though that’s becoming less true with tenderizers being used on steaks.

YMMV, of course.

[–] melfie@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

Who doesn’t like steak tartare on a bun?

I always notice, but if I told you to remake it correctly that would probably be seen as super rude, so 🤷

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They never notice ... or they're too polite to complain about how their free burger is cooked?

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Or op makes a pretty good burger

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Because by the time they are done everyone is three beers in and hungry AF.

[–] Axolotl_cpp@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago

I mean, a burger should be well cooked anyway; it's minced meat so it has bacteria in it that must be killed unlike normal meat cuts where killing the bacteria on the external layer is good enough

[–] RhondaSandTits@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 week ago

Lol, I never ask. Do one thing and do it well.

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago

We just think you're bad at grilling, but don't want to hurt your feelings.

[–] VinegarChunks@lemmus.org 1 points 1 week ago

Also. Ask every single person if they want cheese on their burger. All of them always will, but be sure to ask them anyway.
