Jack needs to share evidence with state AG offices immediately.

Let them find whatever violations of state laws they can.

Regardless of federal level shenanigans, Trump cant be federally pardoned for state charges. Takes the state govenors to do that.

Trump is going to be in NY.. WE should have bounty hunters putting him in prison

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Prison? Such a small solution.

[–] nickiwest@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

If he's assassinated, they'll try to canonize him like they did with Charlie Kirk.

Rotting in prison is the greater humiliation for a narcissist.

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

I said this to my wife. I want him to stroke out coming down air force one steps on camera. I wanna see his kept wife crack a smile. I wanna see the guards struggle to move his flabby body. This needs to be his legacy.

I have barely heard or seen anything Smith said in regard to Trumps crimes. Eric Schmidt making a fool of himself then telling everyone what a great job he did overshadowed it.

Typing that out made me think it was intentional.

Ketchup to the Oval Orifice, stat!

Jack Smith is one of the few who actually cares about America instead of their own wallet or power. This guy is an actual hero but instead he is painted like he is some criminal and liar by the GOP. Americans should take before they vote what is happening here. They’re trying hard to cover shit up and silence this man or anyone else that want to blow the whistle on them. If you Americans are still too fucking blind to see that and STILL vote for Trump these midterms you guys are fucking lost forever. I have said Fuck America almost everyday since Trump became president. This November is you last fucking shot to put things right.

[–] atomicorange@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago

I’m sure you know this, but just for clarification’s sake: Trump is not on the ballot, he’ll still be president after November. What IS on the ballot is his party’s stranglehold on congress and the senate, and his ability to act with complete impunity.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.social 22 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Half the leftists here think Jack Smith is the enemy because he didn't charge, convict and personally execute Trump before america collectively decided to vote him in again.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 87 points 1 week ago (5 children)

I've seen people complaining about Biden and Garland slow walking the prosecution. I haven't seen anyone complaining about Smith.

I have to agree with them on Garland and Biden. Those two fucked the pooch by being partisan in an attempt to appear nonpartisan.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Jack Smith might get a pass from me if Robert Mueller didn't royally fuck up his investigation in full view of Smith for pretty much the same reasons. Smith definitely saw the way that played out and still waited 3 years too long to say stuff like what is quoted in this headline. Good for him for saying it eventually but if he wanted it to matter he's way too late taking his stand and he should have known that better than anyone.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 36 points 1 week ago (5 children)

He was preparing a case to go to trial, one of the most important cases in American history. It's not a reality show. There was never an opportunity back then to make the statements he made this week. Frankly, most of that would have been the content of his opening statement to the court. When was the last time you heard a prosecutor give his opening statement to the media BEFORE he gave it to the court?

He never got the chance to say this stuff, mostly because Biden and Garland dithered and slow-walked the whole thing, compounded by Trump doing the one thing he's good at: manipulating the court schedule. That allowed MAGA to run out the clock, so Trump could cheat his way back into office and kill the investigations.

They should have gone after the 14th Amendment, Section 3 first, and disqualified him from holding office (as well as any other MAGA that supported him), and then gone after the criminal charges.

Jack Smith has been saying the right things all along, you just haven't been paying attention.

And if you expected him to make public announcements about it when he was still conducting the investigation, then you don't understand how the US legal system works because that kind of shit can get solid evidence thrown out in court. He had to cross every t and dot every i in this case, and he did his due diligence. The only place it broke down was when the scotus punted the trial till after the election.

You had my upvote until the second half when you veered into an unhinged rant as if the vast majority of americans here on the fediverse haven't already been against this administration all along.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Thank you, exactly. Yelling at Lemmy libs who are altogether more likely to vote against the current administration than any other group I can personally name is a complete own goal, unless they're actively trying to get genuinely horrified Americans to get discouraged and not vote at all, which is another tactic I've seen here and personally called out I can't even count how many times.

Doesn't matter. I'm voting anyway, and spending less time where I can see that shit to begin with.

And for anyone who can look at their own country and see a diverse set of individuals, but has no problem with looking at another country and seeing only one great homogeneous caricature -- that they then screech at personally because yeah, that's gonna help so much -- I got a bag of dicks they can eat.

. . . while I go vote anything but R, and bring my neighbors too, lol.

It's so wild that Jack Smith is just doing his job the way it's supposed to be done, and he now seems like the outlier in the public sphere.

Especially when you contrast him with the entire array of conservatives and Republicans and how they are just trying to self-deal and punch down and destroy this country.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 65 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I still have to laugh that they really thought they "got him", then:

Also I'm not sure if Church Lady there was going to get teed up for piling on with their bullshit conspiracy theory/"gotcha" moment on Jack Smith, but if she was, she sure has a sad now. They really wanted to get him for the "crime" of investigating donnie's crimes.

She got a front row seat to watch one of donnie's accomplices punch himself right in the nuts. 🙃

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

for the "crime" of investigating donnie's crimes.

It is illegal for them, no doubt

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (7 children)

I hope we can use this gif a lot for memes after a blue wave this fall, but we shall see.

I hope all of the GOP get to look like this in a few weeks. 🤣

[–] KeithD@lemmy.nz 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Only going to be a blue wave if people actually vote.

Even the implied accusation is pretty weak.

So he went to a game in the same city where a person you could have plausibly conspired with lives? Like a major sporting event which it is common to travel for?

If he is banned from traveling to any city where a potential conspirator exists then that rules out basically every city in the US, certainly DC is included in that list.

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 32 points 1 week ago (13 children)

I mean at this point it is like he is the leader of a gang committing international and national humanitarian crimes on live TV and no one is doing shit. So yeah one more person saying this doesn't add much.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It’s like that because that’s exactly what’s happening, an organized crime syndicate, and not even one with any cool aura at all, is in control of the United States.

Say what you will about the tenets of Cosa Nostra dude, at least they don’t look like bumbling idiots when committing crimes

Looks like he's about to accidentally fall out of a window.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.social 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

With this administration it'd be on the first floor.

One of those basement apartment windows where the bottom of the window is at the level of the sidewalk.

Treason doth never prosper; what's the reason? Why, if it prosper, none dare call it treason.
