You have no chance to survive make your time.
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !uspolitics@lemmy.world
7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.
8) No Bots.
Posts or comments from bots, LLM's, AIs, Neural Networks, Transformers, or Marvin the Paranoid Android are not welcome in AskLemmy. Real humans only please.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

I had the pleasure of dropping this in a work context not that long ago:

One time I made my husband a valentine's card that said
"Roses are red, violets are blue, all my base are belong to you."
Made me think of XKCD 550:

AoE and AoE2 still having an active player base and community makes me so happy. AoE2 is truly a timeless game
I still use this on occasion when my wife's cooking or ~~is~~ has a snack I want.

i still reply 14/f/cali anytime asks me my age.
and thats from like..the early/mid 90s. before memes as we knew it were a thing.

These fine owls are still living rent free in my head.
But the worst are probably Goatse, 2girls1cup, 1guy1jar, all the nazi ascii stuff. Modern day memers have it easy.
Does telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl count?

This is the one that comes to mind. I love the work of Allie Brosh, it was cool to see one of her drawing becoming a meme.
And the "A Lot" monster too:

The post received more than 1.1 million views in less than 20 years.
I love how the optics have changed over the years...
Leeeerooooy jenkins!
I'm just commenting here because every single popular post I commented on this community was magically deleted several days later and I'm too lazy to go parse the modlog to see if its mods being dumb or people deleting their own posts for no reason.
EDIT:
Risitas will always be funny

The OG memes don't even need text.

I use this with my wife and kids all the time. They don't even get the reference.

Forsooth! This tapestry hath been altered. My knowledge doth derive from the stitching, as well as having observ'd many such forgeries in mine time.
The Bayeux Tapestry is probably one of the oldest memes (or at least the base for a set of memes) still in use in the digital age. So many earlier others based on wordplay or written text in general are probably incomprehensible now except to specific Tolkienesque ancient language nerds, since modern languages have mutated so much since medieval times, and are therefore lost.
Second place may belong to the Cool S.
