Project that critics say will disrupt historic sightlines in Washington DC is facing a lawsuit

The Trump administration said on Thursday that excavation work will start over the next two weeks on the site where it plans to build a towering, gilded arch, a project that is facing a lawsuit and that critics say will disrupt historic sightlines in Washington DC.

The proposed arch is one of several projects the Republican president is pursuing to leave his lasting imprint on Washington, including renaming and renovating the Kennedy Center, building a huge new White House ballroom, refurbishing the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool and rebuilding a golf course in East Potomac Park that could significantly reduce the public’s access to running and biking paths.

It'd be one thing if donnie had any semblance of taste, but he just doesn't.

Also, he's an asshole most of the country hates, and they don't want him putting his mark on our nation.

At least it'll give us plenty to tear down as we start our healing process as a country

He still has something like 40% support. from voters, considering what he does, that's repellent.

Atleast it will be made by the worst contractors and should basically crumble apart when they remove it once Trump is out of office.

It will probably cost a billion dollars and be made from paper mache.

It’s like he’s too old to rape women and little girls anymore so he has to rape all of Washington DC with his horrifically gaudy taste.

He is obsessed with territorial marking.

This forever will be a monument to Trump and friends raping little girls. As long as it stands. There is no other purpose and I'll make sure everyone knows it.

Two weeks contractor time, two weeks trump time, or two weeks normal people time? Makes a big difference

Wait, WTF? This was approved?

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Since when does Trump wait for approval?

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Approval takes 18 years

digging the grave of the USA as a functioning democracy & society with each diversion of the populace’s money into foolish, grandiose vanity projects, malevolent unprovoked wars, unjustified murders on the waters of the Caribbean, & the endless corruption emanating from the despicable GOP & its feckless moribund figurehead small-d donnie & his kin

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Make it a memorial and project the names of the Trump/Esptein and Trump covid victims on it (assuming they want that).
