Yarra has wandered off again after yesterday's brief appearance. Perhaps an AirTag or a leash is in order.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

One of the reasons I'm studying Latin is to learn grammar and thereby be better English.

It's interesting that my English usage is very good, I know the rules very well, I just can't name them!!

Yesterday I started studying direct objects, I had never even heard of that before, and I don't know what transitive is either.

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Transitive verbs signal that the verb needs something (a direct object) to complete it before it makes sense. Funnily, in English most transitive verbs have spellings in the past tense that are sometimes the same as the regular past tense and it's easy to confuse them - ate for the verb eat, bought for the verb buy etc. eg I ate an apple, I bought an apple - both verbs are transitive. Just writing 'I ate.' is not transitive - it's the past tense of the verb 'to eat' just spelled the same as when the verb is transitive. Bit of a trap that.

Another better example - I catch a ???? or I caught a ???? - both transitive whether you are talking about trains or rabbits or the common cold.

Thank you. I kinda get what you mean. I will read it a few a times as it takes me a few goes to really get things.๐Ÿ™‚

Because learning Latin is basically learning to translate I am getting better at parsing sentences ๐Ÿ‘I will get there.

Another beautiful day. Gonna try and enjoy it before the rains come for the rest of the week.

Still thinking about that coffee I had at Grain Store over the weekend.

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It was cold brew with orange, a cream foam and just a slight touch of fizz. Absolutely delicious.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago

yum, coffee and orange together are delicious

Haven't been to Grain Store for ages but I remember their coffee and brunch was good

Finally listening to the new Mastodon album and it sounds on par with anything they've put out in the past 15 years, and I don't mean that as a compliment. You don't want these guys to flop after what happened with Brent, but I don't know if I'll be checking this out much later, much like Hushed & Grim.

Their best recent effort was the Cold Dark Place EP. It sounded like their recent work but was good, and it had Brent's fingerprints all over it.

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Crack the Skye is my fave. Does the new one have Brett on it or nah?

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago

No, this is the big post Brent release. Those first four albums are bangers with Crack The Skye as a highpoint. Easily in my top 5 of all time

Brent died in a motorcycle accident.

New 10" subwoofer is working well.

Was a bit confused why the air purifier down the hall was like 40 ฮผg/mยณ (normally it's 5). Turns out the sub is so loud it's kicking up dust half a house away lol. Can't really annoy the neighbours as there aren't any atm and won't be until Mar. next year.

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hahaha. Are the door handles vibrating?

Debate time - acceptable temperature for t-shirt wearing?

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago

Too personal of a choice.

I don't go by temp. I go by the warmth of the breeze.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

25C and up. Below that, I require at least a light jacket. Below 20C I require a hoodie/thick jumper.

This is also dependent on wind chill and direction, humidity, cloud cover, etc

Any time. But I'm always warm so results may vary.

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago

With no wind and sun out you could get away with low single digits. High teens with clouds. Low 20s with a breeze

Pakidge at work. I've got to experience a rare brand new Shure SM58. Usually these things are all dinged up, covered in tape, and the grille is dented to shit. Just goes to show how hardy these things are.

They're cheap but brand new they feel nice, and they're dense MFs as well. A good presence in the hand

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Your first paragraph perfectly describes the one I use lol

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago

That's all of them out in the wild, but they have to start somewhere

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago

Ugh. Trying to find toe kick vents (as in the kind to go into the cabinet kick) as part of Catmandu will go over a floor vent. I was forced to resort to google. I wish I had not. Fuck me, is there literally one source (accod) in australia? I call bullshit.
