been seeing a lot of futurism astroturfing recently.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

What makes you believe it's astroturfing? What are the grass roots movements you feel it is trying to fake?

fake outrage to incite online political discourse.

who's doing it?

futurism has routinely supported silicon valley hedgefund crypto AI bros. I trust they post editorialized events that benefit the upper class and keeps the lower class angry and pointing fingers at each other.

Only because the US pulled out a Trump-shaped gun in the middle of the race and shot itself in both kneecaps.

[–] Rat_in_a_hat@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

It was happening before that, but it's definitely much faster now.

America is willfully surrendering its position because it’s run by traitors who are being controlled by hostile adversaries using pedophile kompromat.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

…and Americans keep voting them into power

Literal anti-science Nazis.

Nazis. Anti-science. WTF.

Even the Nazis have gone downhill in the US. Full throttle collapse.

[–] thecaptaintrout@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Nazis were anti science, a lot of the 'advances' attributed to them were results of spending on military and weapons, I.e. intensive funding the remaining scientist that were forced to develop weapons instead of productive/helpful technology. The only sciences they supported were those applicable to military, and even then either disregarded/demonized knowledge from non-facist sources or stole it from those same demonized scientists. People love to crow about operation Paperclip, but forget that most were employed by Nazis under duress.

The first book burnings were of LGBT and sexuality research. Followed by humanities, Jewish authors, 'efeminite' disciplines, and then any that countered the party ideology.

Wait, where have I seen this as well? . . .

Everyone seems to forget the Nazis first targeted and locked up gays/trans, intellectuals, disabled people (they straight up euthanized these people), and socialists in concentration camps before the Jews.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Because everytime you remind them they tell you to STFU. The truth is that if it stopped at gay people, trans people, and the disabled, they'd get away with it every time.

I mean, the allies liberated the camps and then sent the queer people back in to die. There is a reason they never talk about it starting with the gay, trans, and disabled people. It's because in their eyes, it didn't.

To them, there was a perfectly "sane and agreeable genocide", but then it "went off the rails" and started including "real people".

Yeah it really helps your odds of winning a race when the opposing jockey gets off of his horse and shoots it in the leg.

[–] Chais@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 day ago

Can't have been too difficult, since America effectively stopped dead in its tracks.

[–] TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 27 points 1 day ago

Not surprising. The US is undergoing self-sabotage on an unprecedented scale.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh good, now the rest of countries can steal China tech while they cry about it. The circle of industrial espionage!

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

[–] EvergreenGuru@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Most of the highest funded research universities in the world are in China. The Chinese are outspending their Western counterparts and it shows.

[–] Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

They believe in the Future. I really think American policy acts like we don't

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 13 points 1 day ago

Thats what happens when you push out all your scientists and sit on your aged laurels.

[–] Greyghoster@aussie.zone 8 points 1 day ago

If your government is anti scientific…….

[–] Amuro_eat@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 day ago

I’m sure just about every country will with the trajectory of Americans trying to destroy themselves

[–] b161@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago

Science is woke.

[–] panthera_@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

The US should encourage Chinese students to come to the US to study. Not only would the US benefit from their tuition, but many might stay after they complete their studies.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago
