No but it is cruel as fuck and rooted in religious bigotry

[–] RockBottom@feddit.org 2 points 3 days ago

God is stupid and can’t create good genitals as is.

Who... how could... what?

... ah.

"Parents have been concerned about this potential circumcision-autism connection, but hopefully these findings may help allay their fears," says senior author Monica McGrath, research professor in the Bloomberg School's Department of Epidemiology...

Ah ok I understand now.

"Parents".

Bigotry against autists is so extreme that idiot religious extremists will actually consider one of their more barbaric, senseless, cherished traditions as negotiable, relative to the utter 'horror' of their children potentially being autistic.

Right?‽ the logic of this is just so messed up on both ends

No but it is cruel and a gross violation of bodily autonomy that should have huge amounts of jail time attached.

[–] maturelemontree@lemmy.zip 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Thank goodness my parents said they would rather have left that choice to me when I was old enough. As an adult, why the fuck would I get circumsized unless you have a specific reason to do it?

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago (3 children)

I'm jealous that your parents cared enough to let you decide. I wish mine had done the same.

As for why you would do it willingly I don't know either.

I got the last laugh. I was cut as a newborn, but I still didn't end up with the parts my parents wanted. They took a little snip. I went for the full origami of gender reassignment surgery. 🤣

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (4 children)

Take it one step further, and invent an entirely new set of genitals just to piss them off!

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (4 children)

I went for the pretty standard fem package. But there are folks doing some pretty wild things out there now.

A friend of mine did it for medical reasons. His foreskin was too tight to pull back, which made it really hard to clean, and I think there were some other problems associated with it as well.

I've never heard about an adult getting circumcised as an adult for religious reasons, but I'm sure some people do it.

I've heard that a lot. I've even had someone approach me after taking a public shower before and try to strike up a conversation about my bits. Sorry about your bits, brother.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

It is what it is, I've come to accept it but I will never not be mad about it.

Thank you for the condolences.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 32 points 6 days ago

OK but it is still a barbaric practice and I don't see why we allow it. Just because it is culturally accepted does not make it OK.

[–] motruck@lemmy.zip 16 points 6 days ago

Genital mutilation.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

Never thought it did.

Still ain’t right.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 7 points 6 days ago

why the fuck would it? fuck these cunts. Also, quit mutilating kids.

[–] arararagi@ani.social 10 points 6 days ago

What? Who are these people that were even linking these two things? I'm actually shocked I can still be surprised by stupidity.

They should still stop doing it though.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 9 points 6 days ago

"Sorry. We don't read studies anymore. We've found the emotional inner knowledge of hunches and gut feelings appears to get us more money." America under trump.

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Who the fuck thought it did?

[–] 1D10@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

All the people who don't want autism to be genetic.

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

No no let them keep believing it so they finally stop mutilating kids.

[–] updn@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 days ago

It increases risk of an exposed glans tho
